Marine Audio at Abt Electronics!

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

Yesterday marked the first day of spring, which means summer is right around the corner. Time at the beach, ice cream, and water parks all remind us of summer, but how about boating? Anyone who has ever owned, or been on, a boat knows the feeling. The waves glisten from the sun, the air is crisp and cool as it comes off the water, and you can feel the subtle tingle of the mist coming from the sides of the boat. Maybe there is a water sports enthusiast behind the boat or maybe you’re just docked in a cove enjoying the company of good friends, but either way, it’s a memorable and completely summer experience. Is there anything that could make it better, more fun? How about your own personal soundtrack coming out of a custom marine audio system in clear, full, and powerful sound to accentuate the experience? With the line of 2012 marine radios, speakers, subwoofers, and amplifiers at Abt, we can turn any boat ride into an unforgettable experience.

From simple upgrades to custom installations, the marine audio team at Abt can fit your watercraft with the perfect system. Increase the loudness, bass, and fidelity of the sound on your boat so the tandem water skiers 60 feet behind your boat can rock out with you. Whether you want “water pounding” bass, or just some extra power, Abt’s marine audio department has it all.

Not only do we cover speakers, but stereos and CD players as well. Complete iPod/iPhone integration means being able to safely store and play your favorite music and playlists during all of your summertime marine adventures.

So come in and let our team of experts complete your summertime boating experience with a complete multimedia system, or just a couple of upgrades to really make the most of your time on the water.

Polk Audio Instant Home Theater

Polk Audio Instant Home Theater Surround Bar 6000

I recently purchased a Sony 55″ LED LCD TV. Let me start by saying that this TV is AWESOME. It has a great picture, but the audio leaves much to be desired. In fact, my wife agreed much faster that I had though when I suggested we look into a soundbar that we could place on the mantel just under the TV.

Polk Audio Surround Bar 6000 tucked neatly under a wall-mounted TV

I knew I wanted a soundbar that was easy to install, offered great audio and since I didn’t want to run a sub cable, it had to have a wireless subwoofer. After looking at the soundbars in our store, I decided to go with the Polk Audio SURROUNDBAR6000.

Hook up was very easy–just connected an optical cable from my TV to the optical input on of the back of the soundbar (which by the way has 3 audio inputs). The wireless sub woofer was placed in a corner and plugged in to a Panamax 2-Outlet Grey Multi-Use Surge Protector – MD2 after setting both the subwoofer and the soundbar on the same channel. Lastly, I had to go into the TV menu settings and turn off the TVs internal speakers.

Now my family and I enjoy great room filling audio from our TV.

Focal Home Speakers Now At Abt

Focal At Abt

I was listening to a pair of the Focal Chorus 726V floor standing speakers in the store the other day and almost forgot that I was listening to speakers. I had to learn more about them.

They sound great due to the technology that Focal has developed since their inception. All their speakers (even the ones for $495/pair) use drivers that are built by them for them, not some other companies’ parts. They also make their own cabinets unlike most companies. This allows them to know exactly what you will get with each speaker that leaves their factory. This translates into transparent speakers that almost disappear when listening.

Call an audio specialist at the store for more information or stop by and listen for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

The Perfect Match for Your HDTV

Monday, June 7th, 2010

There is a new speaker on the block, or should I say, on the wall; it’s lean, sleek, and will pair nicely with new super-skinny TVs. Definitive Technologies, has created the perfect Mythos speaker complement for shrinking HDTVs and LEDs.

Definitive’s latest Mythos, the XTR-50 ($699), is a trim 1.5 inches thick, 25 inches tall, and six inches wide. It’s designed to be mounted to a wall acting as a left, right, and center channel portion of a surround sound system, although It can also reside on a shelf or speaker stand, if wall mounting is not for you.

XTR-50 isn’t the first speaker of its kind, but it is the first with good sound. So, how much power does this speaker pack? It’s got two, three-and-a-half inch XTDD anodized Aluminum dome mid/bass drivers that are pressure coupled to four, three-and-a-half inch dome low-bass radiators along with one, one inch Aluminum dome tweeter—the same tweeter used in the Mythos ST Super Tower($1,999).

Ideally, you will want to add a sub, Definitive recommends ProSub300 ($399) and consider a duo of XTR-50s, one for each side of your TV. Even if they are the best-sounding skinny speakers on the market and does a great job with the higher frequencies, it still needs some assistance when it comes to hitting the lows.

Check out the XTR-50 on or see it in the showroom today. For help with picking the perfect speaker solution for you, speak with an Abt, home theater sales specialist today.
