Happy Earth Day! As with every year on Earth Day, now is the perfect time to reflect on our planet’s health and our role in preserving it. At Abt, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword reserved for one day of the year; it’s a year-round commitment woven into the fabric of our operations. From the solar panels atop our roof to the bustling activity of our Recycling Center, every day is Earth Day at Abt.

Leading the Charge: Abt’s Recycling Center

Nestled within our facility lies the heart of our sustainability efforts: the Abt Recycling Center. Here, advanced technology and dedicated staff work tirelessly to process a wide array of recyclables, from cardboard to electronics and more. Our commitment extends beyond mere recycling; it’s about responsible disposal and working towards a greener tomorrow.

Electronic waste (e-waste) poses a significant threat to our environment, contributing to pollution and landfill overflow. That’s why we take pride in our Recycling Center, which processes millions of pounds of electronics each year. These numbers represent more than just statistics; they symbolize our collective effort to reduce waste and minimize our ecological footprint. In the past year alone, we’ve recycled a staggering:

  • 4.6 million pounds of cardboard
  • 600,000 pounds of Styrofoam
  • 22 million pounds of appliances
  • 1.2 million pounds of electronics

Abt is in the forefront again. Many places recycle the easy stuff like cardboard, but the hard stuff like Styrofoam? Abt takes this landfill clogger and makes it available for picture frames and many other things that don’t really have to be made of wood or metal. I still remember a tour of the recycling plant and my amazement at all the things they do. Bravo Abt!!

Thank you, Larry! We’re glad to keep as much Styrofoam out of landfills as possible. Anyone can drop off their Styrofoam at Abt for recycling, too!
