Anyone who has TiVo service or has seen it in action can tell you about the convenience and flexibility it provides by recording your favorite shows and letting you pause, fast-forward, and rewind them whenever you decide to watch. Now TiVo has launched a new feature, Netflix Instant Streaming, for all broadband connected TiVo HD and Series3 DVRs.
Utilizing this Internet connection, TiVo users who are also Netflix subscribers will now be able to stream their choice of thousands of movies and TV shows, including a growing library of high-definition (HD) titles, directly to their TVs on an unlimited basis. As an added bonus, there will be no additional charge to customers beyond their normal Netflix and TiVo fees.
With the Netflix Queue-based user interface, members visit the Netflix Web site to add movies and TV shows to their individual instant Queues. Subscribers can then use their TiVo remote control to browse their Queue and make selections right on their TV screen. Choices will be available to watch instantly through the TiVo service.
“With so much talk focusing on the economy these days, this partnership makes more sense than ever because it brings people more movies at home, offering substantially more entertainment options than cable or satellite,” said Tara Maitra, GM and vice president of content services at TiVo Inc. “It adds up to a one-of-a-kind value.”
