Video Highlight! LG gram Laptop

Andrew and Demitri from Abt with the LG gram laptop in our studio

Last week, our video team took a deep dive into what makes this LG gram laptop so special. Here, our host Andrew is joined by Demitris from the Connect Store to help us dissect what earns this LG computer a gold star in our eyes.

The LG gram 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop packs in everything that’s best about many mobile devices (and even desktop features) into one transformable laptop. That being said, Andrew and Demitris both touched on one of the key points of the LG gram 16″ model: its price of $2,100.00. That’s double what many are willing to pay for a portable computer, and it’s why we needed Demitris to break it down for us.

What You See First: The Construction & Exterior

Demitris dove right into describing what exactly makes the surface of the LG gram outrageous. “It’s absolutely ridiculous. Super lightweight and weighs around three pounds.” Comparatively, that’s a couple of ounces lighter than the latest MacBook Pro. That lightweight construction often comes with a cost, but not with the LG gram. “Unlike many laptops that are made with aluminum, this one’s made with magnesium. It’s a lot more durable and lighter than other models…when you’re walking around, it’s almost like it’s not even there.”

It’s more than just light, though. The magnesium-coated laptop is incredibly durable. Dimitris went on to describe just how far the LG brand works to ensure their hardware can handle a drop or a ding. They drop the LG Gram 16″ 2-in-1 laptop from a height of 15 feet during the testing phase. That’s all to prepare your laptop for a fall from the desk, being knocked off the sofa or even taking a tumble from a bunk bed. Dimitris continued that the screen’s bezel is a large part of what makes this computer so durable. “The bezel actually reaches underneath the machine’s hinge.” That construction helps to cushion the screen from fall damage.

Open It Up: The Yoga Screen

With that, Andrew and Demitris have established just how strong the LG gram can be. The screen is just as exciting as the construction, and another part of why it’s worth the hefty price tag (and then some). “The two-in-one factor: a lot of people tend to call it a yoga because you can flip (the screen) over.” Users are able to flip the screen all the way over, transforming this lightweight laptop into a tablet. “A touch screen is a little bit easier to use. Most people use their phones a lot, so…I hear from customers that walk in and say “I’m using this computer and I just forget that it’s not a touchscreen, and I’ll touch it.” As Demitris described, The LG gram is the solution for people that have gotten so used to using tablets and smartphones that they have a hard time adapting to computers with no regular screens. What makes this LG gram even more premium is the stylus that comes with it. Use this stylus to write instead of type on the digital keyboard for a natural experience with the tablet-flipped screen.

The Internal Technology: Processors & More

When it comes to what’s inside, this laptop shines even brighter. The stats measure up well: The LG Gram is designed around a 12th Gen Core i7, one of the more powerful processors available on the market today. Other internal stats make this computer one of our top picks, including:

  • Integrated Iris XE Graphics Card
  • 16 gigabytes of RAM
  • DDR5: doubling speed of common machines
  • 2 TB SSD
  • Built-In Amazon Alexa
  • Windows 11
  • IPS display (20 hours of battery)
  • 16-inch screen
  • 3.3 oz
  • 2 USB-C with power delivery
  • Thunderbolt 4
  • Headphone Jack
  • 1 USB
  • HDMI
  • Backlit Keyboard

The Extras

The LG gram 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop packs in everything that’s best about many mobile devices (and even desktop features) into one transformable laptop. That being said, Andrew and Demitris both touched on one of the key points of the LG gram 16″ model: its price. That’s double what many are willing to pay for a portable computer, and that’s why we needed Demitris to break it down for us.

There are even more exciting features that set the LG gram ahead of the pack: one that commuters and anyone who loves working at coffee shops will love is the camera system. When cameras detect someone walking past you, it will darken the screen for privacy. Meanwhile, Demitris notes that this laptop might not need a docking station if you’re trying to work with another monitor or two. Use the USB-C cable or the built-in HDMI port to power one or two monitors and you’ve got a complete work station powered from one laptop.
