Anyone who’s ever taken a stroll through our showroom knows that we often have some pretty crazy products on display—the kind of stuff you probably won’t see at any other appliance or electronics retailer. You know, things like the World’s Largest Pac-Man, or an 85-inch 8K QLED TV. This week, we added another droolworthy bit of gear to the floor: the HP Omen Emperium 65 BFGD.
The HP Emperium 65 BFGD (get your mind out of the gutter, it stands for Big Format Gaming Display) is no ordinary large monitor, and it’s not a normal TV with some gaming badges slapped on. It was built from the ground up for the sole purpose of being the most awe-inspiring gaming monitor ever created. The HP Emperium 65 is the world’s first 65-inch Nvidia G-Sync compatible 4K HDR monitor. A glance at the spec sheet reveals a veritable wish list of high-end capabilities; if there’s a trait necessary to be the absolute best monitor, it’s present here. The Emperium 65 features: a 4K HDR1000 panel with quantum-dot technology and a full direct-array backlight; Nvidia G-Sync technology in a panel capable of 144Hz refresh rates; an integrated soundbar with four drivers and four passive radiators; full smart technology, including built-in Nvidia Shield TV and Google Assistant; and, of course, integrated RGB lighting.
Like we said, it was purpose-built to be a the ultimate gaming monitor, something that could beautifully display even the most demanding, graphics-intensive games available today and well into the future. It’s a “spared no expense” type of gadget, with a price tag that reflects it. The Emperium 65 will cost you just under $5,000.
And, of course, you’ll need a whole lot of PC to push today’s AAA games to their max and truly take advantage of the Emperium’s potential. A GTX 1050 is the minimum requirement, though HP recommends at least a GTX 1070, and preferably something higher. We’ve currently got it hooked up to our demo machine, running a GTX 1080 and Threadripper under a custom loop, and it Destiny 2 looked pretty amazing on it. We’re looking forward to seeing what else we can throw at this monitor and how good it all looks. Wanna give it a try? Abt is currently the only place you can see the HP Emperium 65 on display, so swing by to get some screen time yourself.
