Here at Abt Electronics, we sell all kinds of appliances. Our sales team members are professionals in their field, knowing every inch there is to know about washers, dryers, microhoods and more. Sometimes, customers don’t always get the information simply because they don’t ask. To help yourself as well as any headaches before or after delivery, we’ve put together some information to brush up on a few extra important tidbits when buying appliances…
As soon as a customer sees a cord, most assume they have an electric dryer. Make sure you realize what you will need: gas or electric. The majority of models each manufacturer offers comes in either or, so it’s important to know what you are connecting to, once you find the unit for you.
Most manufacturers require a minimum of 66” from the floor to the underside of the cabinet. That only leaves about 30” from the top of the cook top, to the underside of the cabinet that your microhood can be mounted to. In most cases that is only going to leave about 13” from the top of the cook top to the under side of the microhood.
In a perfect world you would like to see the space from the top of the cook top to the bottom of the cabinet be at 32” to 34”. Also, the depth of a normal cabinet is 13”: most microhoods are about 15 ½” deep, so the customer will see about 2” of the side of the microhood. Be sure to measure as best you can before shopping for a microhood.
As we all know refrigerators have grown over the years especially in height and depth. A 22 cubic foot refrigerator from 10 – 15 years ago will not have the same dimensions as a current model. When shopping for a new fridge, be sure you measure the space, not the size of the existing fridge. Also, keep in mind that most manufacturers recommend a 1” gap on the top and ½” on each side. This is for proper fridge ventilation. Also prepare for any uncertain issue: all it takes is an uneven floor or a wall that’s not square and the refrigerator will not settle properly.
These are just a few tips on picking appliances. If you have any additional questions, feel free to speak with a representative at 888-228-5800.
