SNES Classic Announced!

Nintendo dropped a little Monday surprise today with the announcement of the SNES Classic. Retro gaming fans undoubtedly remember the buzz of the release and sales rush of the NES Classic last year, and many are still upset by that model’s unexpected discontinuation less than six months later—leaving many hopeful fans unable to grab the uber-popular device. This time around, Nintendo has promised better availability, so hopefully there will be plenty of SNES Classics to go around come holiday season.

Like its predecessor, the SNES Classic will look just like a miniaturized version of the original Super Nintendo, will include a pair of wired controllers, and come loaded with a selection of the console’s most popular games. Included in the 21 titles are classics like Super Mario World, the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario Kart, StarFox, and more. SNES Classic is slated to hit shelves on Septermber 29, and will cost $79.99. If there’s a die-hard gamer in your life, this is the perfect present. We’ll make sure to announce when official pre-orders open, so keep your eyes peeled! In the meantime, let us know which titles you’re most excited to play on the redesigned console.
