Everyone loves fried foods, and that crispy, flakey, oily deliciousness. Unfortunately, those flavor-packed treats are not so good for you. Eating too much fried food can have a negative impact on your health and wellness. So how do we keep our health in check while still enjoying the heavenly sweets that come from hot oil? Two words: Air Fryer. Air Fryers are a great way to conveniently enjoy those crispy, traditionally fried foods without the guilt.
This countertop appliance is easily becoming the talk of the town, and everyone’s gift registry must-have. For this recipe, we'll be using the Philips Viva Collection Airfryer. This air fryer uses TurboStar Technology to circulate heat and evenly cook food from top to bottom, giving food that "crispy on the outside but tender on the inside" taste that everyone loves. From traditional favorites like fries and fried chicken to sweet festive desserts like churros, this air fryer can handle it all!
Today we're going to show you how we made these super simple air fryer donuts. They're perfect for a fall morning at home or as a nice treat to make and share with coworkers. We'll be making two variants: Cinnamon Sugar and Apple Cider Glazed.
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl and set aside. Open can of biscuits, separate them and place them on a flat surface. Using a 1-inch round biscuit cutter, cut holes out of the center of each biscuit.
Lightly coat the Air Fryer basket with olive oil spray, then place donuts in a single layer into the basket. Make sure they are not touching each other. Bake at 360 Degrees F for 5 minutes or until lightly browned.
Remove donuts from the air fryer basket, dip each side in melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar to coat.
In a small saucepan, bring apple cider to a boil and cook until reduced to half (about 7 to 10 minutes).
Slowly add in the powdered sugar while whisking the mixture to make sure there are no lumps, then add the light corn syrup. Whisk until all ingredients are evenly combined.
Let the mixture cool and thicken slightly before using.
