Thursday at CES, Intel revealed the first Smartphone to run on the Moorsetown platform for mobile internet devices (MID). The GW990 Smartphone will be made by LG Electronics and ship during the second half of the year, said Intel CEO Paul Otellini during a keynote speech at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
LG‘s GW990 has a 5” multi-touch screen, capable of playing video at 720p resolution. A camera is on both the front and back of this MID. Running on the Linux-based Moblin operating system, it is capable of running multiple applications at the same time. For instance, with the GW990 you can play Hi-Def video and use the calculator at the same time. It is power efficient and brings pc functions to a Smartphone. Features seem to be endless on this MID… Check back for more info in the spring.
