LG Washer Recall: Three Top-Loading Models Pose Potential Risk

LG  Washer Recall Due To Possibility of Injury

LG Washer Recall

LG Electronics recently issued a voluntary recall of three top-loading washing machines, due to a defect that could make them dangerous to users. The models being recalled are all part of the Ultra-Large Capacity, High-Efficiency Wave™ Series. Model numbers being recalled are:

  • WT5001CW
  • WT5101HV
  • WT5101HW

Any of these washers with serial numbers between 002KW******* and 111KW******* are potentially at risk.
According to the press release, an unbalanced load of laundry can cause the machine to shake excessively, which can cause the drum to come loose and potentially injure the user or damage the surrounding area. The LG washer recall is for models that were sold between April 2010 and December 2012, for between $899 and $1099.

To determine if your machine is at risk, check the model and serial numbers, which are on a label located on the top back of the machine. LG warns that owners of the recalled washing machines who have observed the machines shaking excessively should stop using them immediately and contact LG.

Consumers with defective washers can contact LG at this toll free number: (855)400-4639 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST on Saturday. LG will schedule a free in-home repair of the washing machine. The full press release regarding the LG washer recall is available at https://www.cpsc.gov.
