We’re always on the lookout for exciting new products to add to our catalog, so some of our team spent the day at the International Home + Housewares Show to get the scoop on what tomorrow’s best kitchen wares will be. Here are some of the things we loved, and hope to have on our shelves very soon.
Instant Pot Max
Though they’ve been around for nearly a decade, Instant Pot seemed to come out of nowhere to become everyone’s favorite cooking gadget in 2017. Their eponymous appliance combines the functions of a slow-cooker, pressure cooker, steamer, rice cooker and warmer, using smart technology to take much of the guesswork out of cooking. One if its biggest advantages is that it offers the convenience of slow cooking without the slow part. Set it and forget it and your dinner is ready in 90 minutes, as opposed to the 8 hours you might need with a slow cooker. At the IHHS, one of the show’s hottest items was the new Instant Pot Max. The newest model in the Instant Pot lineup can cook even faster than its predecessors, sports a slick touchscreen control panel, and offers some new features like a canning function and the ability to sous vide cook. If you’ve searched for Instant Pot at Abt.com before and left disappointed, we’ve got good news. Instant Pot products will be available at Abt in the coming months!
The Instant Pot Ultra will be getting a new big sibling.
Le Creuset Provence
2018 is going to be a big year for all things purple. After being announced as Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018 (technically, the shade is “Ultra Violet), the color of royalty is popping up everywhere. So it’s no surprise that Le Creuset—a brand known for their use of vivid colors—has embraced it for their newest line of products. The Le Creuset Provence line is “inspired by the fragrant, sun-drenched lavender fields of southern France,” and features a full selection of bakeware, cookware, and tableware in the vibrant hue. We were smitten by it at IHHS, and can’t wait to have it on display in our Gourmet Shop.
Hestan Cue
We’re most familiar with Hestan as the brand that makes the gorgeous, high-performance backyard grills in custom colors, but they also produce an extensive line of commercial kitchen appliances. At IHHS, we spent some time with their newest offering, a product that’s likely to find its way into the kitchens of casual cooks around the country. The Hestan Cue is a smart cooking system that uses an induction burner with specialized smart cookware and a cooking app to take the guesswork out of making an entire library of delicious recipes. Simply pick the recipe in the app, and the cookware and burner will warm to the necessary temperature. As you cook, embedded sensors ensure that the temperature stay where they need to, so your foods are cooked to perfection every time. As one of our buyers said, after trying out the Hestan Cue: “I made a crepe in 4 minutes and it was delicious. Nothing I ever make is delicious.”
