Step 1: Your Perfect BBQ Grill

Of course, the most essential item for a great backyard barbecue is a great grill. Which do you prefer, charcoal or gas? Only you know which fuel type is right for your needs. Abt has dozens of options to choose from, but these are some of our favorites:

If you’re a fan of the classics, then a charcoal grill is for you. We love the Classic Joe III by Kamado Joe because it incorporates modern features in a classic cooking method. Its three-tiered cooking system means you can cook multiple dishes at the same time, too. With locking wheels, this charcoal grill is easy to move around your backyard to accommodate any event.

Prefer to cook with gas? We’ve got you covered. The Napoleon Prestige 500 natural gas grill is a great mid-range option that suits all kinds of cooking styles. With space to prep, cook and serve all in one grill, you get more value for your money and can cook meals way easier, too. Infrared side burners and light up control knobs add extra functionality. It comes in a liquid propane option, too.

Step 2: Delicious Grill Recipes

Once you’ve picked the perfect grill, you need the best barbecue recipes to elevate your gathering. Luckily, Abt has tons of recipes on The Bolt. We love tacos on the grill because they come together quickly and are easy to eat. Pair this great entrée with a delicious summer dessert and the whole party will be asking for seconds. Yields8 Servings

 2 lbs pork tenderloin
 ½ cup BBQ rub
 2 pineapples
 12 corn tortillas
 1 cup chopped onions
 ½ cup chopped cilantro

1

Slice your pork tenderloin into filets. Sprinkle and dry rub the filets with your BBQ rub.

2

Core and slice one pineapple, leaving the other pineapple whole. Cut the bottom off of the whole pineapple and put it on the rotisserie spear. Start building your rotisserie but alternating between 2 pork filet and 1 pineapple slice.

3

Once you've run out of pork, cut another top slice off of the whole pineapple and add it to the end of your rotisserie.

4

Light your grill on the outside burners and the smoker burner on high. Add your woodchips into the smoker burner. Close the lid and let the temperature rise to 375 degrees.

5

Once your grill has reached 375 degrees, place your rotisserie on the grill.

6

Once your pork is completely cooked, remove your rotisserie from your grill. Place on a large cutting board and shave it off of the rotisserie with a chef's knife. Chop the meat and pineapple pieces to fit better in your tortilla.

7

Grab a tortilla and add the pork, pineapple, onion, and cilantro. Enjoy!

Step 3: Find Your Summer Playlist

Extra entertainment is never a bad idea, especially in the summer when temperatures stay comfortable well into the evening. A portable speaker  makes it easy to bring the tunes wherever your guests are, and there are dozens of water-resistant models on the market. If you really want to go all out, though, you can also build an entire outdoor sound system from Abt. The deciding factors here are your budget and the size of your yard. If you live in a smaller space, a single speaker will suffice; if you have a sprawling yard with a pool or an outdoor kitchen, investing in a sound system is a great idea.

Step 4: Relax on the Perfect Patio Set

Now that you have the perfect playlist and delicious food, where are your guests going to sit? If you don’t have a great patio set, you can find that at Abt, too. From bistro tables to dining tables that can seat 8 people, we have tons of great patio furniture to choose from. When it comes to style, that’s totally up to your entertaining style. You can opt for a traditional dining table, but we also offer fire tables. Fire table seating sets do double duty, perfect for chilling and eating during the day and enjoying a fire (and s’mores!) at night.
