Gourmet Kitchen Showroom Construction: Behind the Scenes

At Abt, we’ve always prided ourselves on being the Chicago area’s go-to shopping spot for kitchen appliances (among other things), and think of ourselves as more of a destination than just a store. We strive to offer something more, from the incredible selection of appliances—including prestigious brands like La Cornue, Sub-Zero, and Viking—to the unique kitchen vignettes in our atrium, which let you encounter the appliances in their natural environment. But, if you know Abt, you know we like to always be pushing the envelope of what a shopping experience can be. And that quest has resulted in our latest offering, the (as-of-yet-unnamed) Gourmet Kitchen showroom on the second floor of the Abt Atrium. This showroom will be unlike anything else in the Chicago area, and possibly the entire country. 

Filling over 10,000 square-feet of showroom space, the new display will feature high-end, brand-themed kitchens from the biggest names in the industry: Viking, Dacor, Jenn-Air, Miele, GE, Samsung, Thermador, Bosch, La Cornue, Sub-Zero, Wolf, LG, and Gaggenau. Each kitchen display will spotlight some of that brand’s best products, installed into a variety of luxurious displays by  renowned kitchen designer, de Giulio Design. Every display will utilize unique style elements that will set it apart from any normal appliance showroom..

But the most impressive aspect of the new showroom? It will feature live appliances. That means the refrigerators will be chilling foods and the range burners will ignite. This gives visitors an unprecedented opportunity to truly test-drive these kitchen appliances before they buy. It also gives us the chance to host live cooking demonstrations or other fun cooking events in the elegant new space. As you can see from the following photos, we’re still mid-way through the construction phase. But work is being completed and we hope to have the entire space wrapped up within the next few months.
