We’re bringing the heat to Abt this month with our first-ever Wing Cook-Off. Join us as five local chefs compete to serve up the tastiest, most mouth-watering wings they can create—all for a good cause. Guests will get to enjoy a sample of wings from each of the chefs, along with assorted refreshments. The winning wings will be decided by our celebrity judges: Melissa Forman from 93.9 LITE FM, Lisa Kosty from SHE 100.3 radio, LeeAnn Trotter from NBC Chicago, and Michael Janssen from WGN TV. At the end of the evening, one champion chef will be crowned, and all ticket proceeds will go to the charity of their choice. Our good friend Steve “Hungry Hound” Dolinsky will be on hand to host the event and help the celebrity judges choose their winner.
Meet the chefs and their respective charities:
Darnell Reed is the chef and owner of Luella’s Southern Kitchen, a restaurant inspired by his grandmother’s passion for southern cooking. He will be competing on behalf of The Greater Chicago Food Depository.
Jae Lee, chef and owner of Crisp, has had his wings showcased in multiple national magazines and TV shows. He will be raising money for The Cancer Research Institute.
Diane Devereaux, aka The Canning Diva, is an author and expert on canning and emergency preparation. She has chosen Gilda’s Club of Chicago as her charity.
Malika Ameen, author of Sweet Sugar, Sultry Spice: Exotic Flavors to Wake Up Your Baking, grew up with exotic spices and flavors, and they influence all of her cooking. She will be competing on behalf of The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Thai Dang is executive chef and owner of HaiSous Vietnamese Kitchen, the Pilsen eatery that has been named one of Chicago’s 50 Best Restaurant’s by the Chicago Tribune. He will be representing No Kid Hungry.
