It’s been a long and cold winter, so it’s nice to reach another reminder that spring is just around the corner. This weekend marks the start of Daylight Saving Time. Late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, all of your clocks should be set one hour forward. Most computer and smartphone clocks will do this automatically (tip: there is almost always an option in the clock setting menus to enable automatic DST updates).
This weekend is also a reminder to change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Smart Smoke Detectors like the Nest Protect can send alerts to your smartphone when the battery is getting low, but taking a few minutes every six months is a great practice to ensure your family’s safety.
We also suggest Daylight Saving Time as the perfect opportunity to change the water filter in your refrigerator, since most manufacturers suggest replacing the filter every six months. A fresh filter keeps your water free from impurities and tasting its best. If you need help picking the right filter for your fridge, please give us a call at 888-228-5800.
Losing an hour of sleep on this weekend is never fun, but I think most of us are willing to trade it for another hour of sunlight after the workday ends. Happy Daylight Saving Time Weekend!
