Mark your calendars! Later this month, the Cruisin’ for Awareness charity car show and R/C racing event returns to Abt for its fourth year in a row—and it’s bigger than ever.
The event, which benefits the For Autistic Kids Foundation, brings a variety of auto-oriented activities to Abt for an entire afternoon. If you’re a fan of R/C racing, you’ll want to catch a few rounds of the circuit races—or even take part yourself. Multiple classes offer racing opportunities for everyone, from beginners to seasoned pros. The R/C Crawlers will be back again, and the new for this year is an R/C demolition derby. And if you just want some pointers on improving your R/C skills or getting into the hobby for the first time, feel free to pick the brains of the pros from Hobbytown USA and Chi-TownRC.com, who are co-hosting the race portion of the event.
But the major draw of Cruisin’ For Awareness is the custom car show, which last year saw nearly 150 entrants. Cars of all types can enter—if it’s got four wheels (or even two or three, to be honest) it’s welcome here. Multiple trophies will be awarded to Stock, Modified, and Future Classic (1985 or newer) classes, with specialty awards going to other categories like Best Paint, Best Engine, and more.
We’ll also have some great displays from several event sponsors. Bose representatives will be demonstrating some of their latest audio equipment, show cars from Kenwood and JL Audio will be on hand, along with a show boat from Hertz and Aquatic AV. You can put a few virtual laps in on Sony‘s and CTX Speed‘s racing simulator, while enjoying delicious samples from House of Cakes.
