CES 2016: Skulpt Smart Fitness Companion

As we begin the new year, many of us want to work on a healthier lifestyle. The start of a healthy lifestyle consists of eating right and of course staying active.  We go for a run, swim or go to the gym to work out. There are a variety of workouts and fitness equipment for different parts of the body, and some of us may not know what kind of workout each muscle needs. At CES 2016,  our team passed by the Skulpt Chisel. The Skulpt Chisel is the first device ever to measure muscle quality, fat percentage, individual muscles and the total body as well. This device can measure up to 24 different muscles, it measures how strong or lean your muscles are by measuring the muscle fiber size. There are 12 sensors on the back of the device, the sensors on the back send small currents through the muscle fibers, picking up tons of data instantly. The device calculates the flow of the current to measure the fat percentage on each muscle, and then determine the condition of the muscle precisely.  This type of technology is called Electrical Impedance Myography (EIM). This type of technology has been used in hospital research and used with NASA!

The technological part seems complex, but using the device isn’t! All you do is simply spray the back  the device with a little bit of tap water, and then you place it on the muscle you want to measure. You get results instantly using the app, the app is compatible with IOS and Android. Based on your results, the data helps the app determine which workout is best for you to reach your fitness goals. Using the data, it customizes what kind of workouts will be best to reach your goals.

You can check your results instantly using the app. The app has a heat map, that indicates what areas you need to work on based on the measured data. This device is great to start off the new year. Not only are you keeping your body healthy and optimizing your workouts, you are also learning and understanding how your muscles work.
