Denon Marks 110 Years with the AVR-A110 Flagship Receiver

Most of today’s high-end audio and home theater equipment is so advanced that it’s difficult to imagine that these companies have been around for longer than a decade or two. But one of the audio industry’s most well-known brands is hitting an anniversary milestone this year that makes many of today’s tech titans seem like infants. This month, Denon is celebrating its 110th year in the audio industry and marking the occasion with the release of the A110 Series, a lineup of four limited-edition anniversary products.

Anchoring the A110 Series is the Denon AVR-A110, an ultra-premium audio/video receiver offering everything an audiophile could possibly want for the foundation of a hi-fi or home theater system. While it celebrates the company’s past, the AVR-A110 is a decidedly forward-thinking product, taking the concept of future-proofing as far as can be expected in such a rapidly-advancing industry.

Behind the limited-edition silver-graphite faceplate of the Denon AVR-A110, you’ll find a checklist of class-leading features. Among the highlights:

  • 13.2 channels (150W per channel at 8 ohm)
  • Nearly every surround sound codec imaginable—Dolby Atmos, DTS:X/Pro IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D
  • Support for 8K/60Hz pass-through, with ALLM, QMS, QFT, VRR
  • HDR modes: Dolby Vision
  • HDCP2.3 support
  • HEOS integration
  • 3 Multiroom zones
  • Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri compatibility
  • 8 HDMI inputs / 3 HDMI outputs
  • Phono pre-amp
  • 15 speaker terminals/ 13 discrete amplifiers

Some of the hardware specs will look familiar to perceptive audiophiles, and there’s a reason for that. The AVR-A110 is based closely on Denon’s current flagship receiver, the X8500H, so you can expect the same overall feature set. But while the two top-tier A/V receivers share the same DNA, there are enough enhancements to the anniversary model to entice the audiophile crowd. Besides the facelift and addition of 8K support, Denon has upgraded internals with ultra-premium materials, chosen to eke out every last bit of sound quality from the audio sources.

Plus, every AVR-A110 is specially tuned by Denon’s master audio engineer, Yuuki Takahashi, and packed with a Certificate of Authenticity bearing his official stamp of approval. It’s also covered by a 5-year warranty, compared to the X8500H’s three years. The Denon AVR-A110 is meant to be the ultimate expression of “form meets function,” not unlike a modern supercar. It’s a beautifully-designed component that you’ll be proud to display on your rack, but it’s built to perform—so you don’t have to be afraid to really let it rip.

In addition to the the AVR-A110, the Denon A110 collection also includes a new integrated amp, the PMA-A110; an SACD player, the DCD-A110; and an MC phono cartridge, the DL-A110. All four products are available for pre-order today.
