In just a few short years, Virtual Reality has grown from an expensive, high-tech toy into an approachable, accessible technology that you can enjoy in the comfort of your home for just a few hundred bucks. SNES Classic Announced!

Monday, June 26th, 2017

Nintendo dropped a little Monday surprise today with the announcement of the SNES Classic. Retro gaming fans undoubtedly remember the buzz of the release and sales rush of the NES Classic last year, and many are still upset by that model’s unexpected discontinuation less than six months later—leaving many hopeful fans unable to grab the uber-popular device. This time around, Nintendo has promised better availability, so hopefully there will be plenty of SNES Classics to go around come holiday season.

Celebrate Vive Day with HTC

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017

They say time flies when you’re having fun, which might be why it’s hard to believe that it’s been a full year since we first got to play with the HTC Vive virtual reality system. The Vive has been one of our favorite gadgets to come out in the last year. To mark its one-year anniversary, HTC has designated April 5th “Vive Day,” and will be celebrating with a variety of offers for new customers who pick up a Vive system on that day.

Nintendo Switch Preorder Information Announced

Friday, January 13th, 2017

Last fall, Nintendo set the gaming world abuzz with a cryptic announcement of their curious upcoming gaming device, the Nintendo Switch. The unique console seemed to follow in its predecessors’ footsteps, emphasizing the gaming experience and communality more than outright graphical power. Some gaming demos and the basics of gameplay were revealed, but much else was kept secret. Nintendo finally pulled the rest of the details out from under wraps, announcing a release date, final price, and the details of a Nintendo Switch subscription online-gaming service.

The Nintendo Switch will be available in two color schemes.

Building the Ultimate Affordable Home Theater: Black Friday Edition

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016

There’s no better time to buy electronics, especially products for your home theater, than Black Friday. The year’s lowest prices on TVs, audio components, and video game consoles mean that you can put together an impressive entertainment system for under $1000. And this isn’t a collection of leftover no-name electronics—we’re including the latest technology from the best brands in the business.

Getting the best picture and sound for your money

At the heart of any good home theater is a stunning display. We’re going to go with a 50-inch TV, which is a great size for the average family room. This Black Friday weekend (11/24-26), the Samsung UN50KU6300 will drop to just $398. That’s an Ultra HD, HDR-capable Smart TV for less than four hundred bucks, a price that was unheard of even just last year. The KU6300 will play all of the latest content from both physical and streaming sources in 4K UHD resolution, with HDR, which means the picture will have the extra clarity of 4K and contain a dynamic range of tones that a normal TV could never display. This set is probably the bang-for-the-buck TV deal of the year.

Nintendo Switch Revealed

Friday, October 21st, 2016

The Nintendo Switch is the company’s first new home video game console since the Wii U

For years, while Sony and Microsoft have focused on crafting consoles with cutting-edge power, Nintendo has opted to emphasize the fun of the gaming experience. Consoles like the Wii and Wii U  were more about innovative controls than pure specs, while games like Super Smash Bros excel because of their addictive group gameplay rather than unbeatable graphics capabilities. Their newest announcement, the Nintendo Switch, looks to continue that trend.
