Catch the Start of the Race to Mackinac at Ashore Thing

Looking for something to do in Chicago this weekend?  Join us on Saturday at Navy Pier as we help celebrate the start to Chicago Yacht Club’s Race to Mackinac. This annual yacht race, which started in 1898 with just a handful of boats, will take sailors on a 333-mile long journey from Chicago to Mackinac Island, Michigan. We’re joining Michigan Avenue Magazine for Ashore Thing, their pier party that kicks off the Race.  Ashore Thing is free to attend, and will give you the chance to  learn about and get an up-close look at the more than 300 yachts—some from as far away as New Zealand and Hong Kong—as they parade past Navy Pier on their way to the starting line. There will also be family-friendly activities like face painting, balloon artists and nautical-themed games, so children are more than welcome at Ashore Thing. For more info, click the image below. Fingers crossed for good weather, and we hope to see you there!
