For much of the country, the arrival of spring weather means finally getting to open the windows and enjoy the fresh outdoor air. Unfortunately, that outdoor air can also be the source of unending irritation for allergy sufferers. If the ingress of pollen, ragweed, or other typical seasonal allergens wreaks havoc on your eyes and nose, it may be time to buy an air purifier.

With countless models on the market, choosing an air purifier comes with its own set of challenges. Abt currently carries more than thirty different models—a selection that covers a wide range of brands, capabilities, and budgets. If you’ve started researching products, you’ve probably encountered all of the different factors to think about when buying an air purifier. There are some obvious things to consider, like what kind of filter it uses and how large a room it can clean. And then there are traits you might not have thought of, like how loud the air purifier is. Deciding which traits are important to you will help you choose the best air purifier for your needs.

To make things easier, in this blog post we’ll be looking only at our most popular air purifier brand, Blueair. And to further simplify, we’ll be comparing just three of Blueair’s best-selling air purifiers: the Blue Pure 411, the Classic 211+, and the Classic 680i

Each of these three Blueair air purifiers hits a different price point and offers differing volumes of air purifying capacity. But they all share the traits that make Blueair so popular: effective air cleaning, intuitive controls, and access to Blueair’s air filter subscription service. Which is the best air purifier for your home? Check out the following videos to learn more about each model and find out for yourself. If you’d prefer to skip to the specs, scroll down to the chart at the bottom of this post, where we compare the main features of each of these three Blueair air purifiers.

Blueair Blue Pure 411

The Blue Pure 411 is a basic air purifier that’s great for small bedrooms or home offices. It’s quiet, doesn’t use much energy, and can easily hide in a corner. Plus, the swappable fabric pre-filters are available in five different colors, so you can customize your air purifier to match your décor.

Blueair Blue Pure 211+

To filter the air in a larger room, while still staying on a budget, consider the Blue Pure 211+. This mid-range air purifier can handle rooms four times larger than the 411 and has triple the CADR (clean air delivery rate—how many cubic feet of air gets cleaned every minute). It’s a top pick by Wirecutter, who called the Blueair Blue Pure 211+ “a stellar performer for larger rooms.”

Blueair Classic 680i

For cleaning the air in very large rooms—or even a small open-concept apartment or office—step up to something like the Classic 680i. This high-capacity air purifier is rated to clean spaces with an area of up to 698 ft². The Classic 680i also offers high-tech niceties, like the ability to change settings via the Blueair app, and integrated air quality sensors that can automatically adjust air cleaning speed.
