Abt-Solutely Delicious: Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus & Grilled Pineapple Lemonade

It has taken way too long for summer to find its way to these parts, but it’s finally arrived. And to us, that means one very important thing—it’s time to start grilling. We’re going to grill our dinners. We’re going to grill our breakfasts. We’re going to grill our desserts. And we’re even going to grill our drinks.

We're going to start off this grilling season with this insanely easy, two-ingredient appetizer: grilled bacon-wrapped asparagus. This recipe is perfect for a party as a shareable side or on its own. It is super easy and very adaptable. You can probably figure out how to make it without a recipe, but scroll down for specific cooking instructions.

Yields12 Servings

 1 lb asparagus
 ½ lb bacon

Heat your grill to 400 degrees.

Break each asparagus spear in half, then couple each bottom and top together.

Slice each piece of bacon in half, then wrap it around the asparagus bundles.

Use a toothpick to safely secure your bacon to your asparagus bundle.

Grill for about 25-30 minutes, flipping them when halfway done. Enjoy!

And since we’ve got the grill fired up, we’re going to whip up a pitcher of Grilled Pineapple Lemonade.

Here is a fun twist on a summertime favorite, Grilled Pineapple Lemonade. Adding the pineapple gives the drink a more complex flavor and softens the sour flavor profile that can sometimes be overwhelming. As an added twist, grilling the pineapple lends a slightly smokey taste, making it an ideal mixer for a tequila or mezcal-based adult concoction.

 6 oz fresh pineapple, sliced
 4 cups hot water
 3 tbsp granulated sugar
 4 lemons

Cook pineapple until dark char marks appear. Set aside to cool.

Use a stovetop or electric kettle to heat up water. In a pitcher, combine sugar and hot water, stir until sugar dissolves.

Place grilled pineapple and the juice from 4 lemons into a blender. Blend until smooth.

Pour pineapple mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into the pitcher with the sugar mixture.

Stir until well blended, add ice and enjoy!
