A couple weekends ago, an Abt installation crew went to Fairview Elementary School to install a solar panel system. Officials from Fairview approached Abt for this job because of a grant they received from the State of Illinois to install a solar system. The panels were mounted on a south facing wall, in the middle of the court yard. The 1.8 kilowatt system consisted of 8 panels and an Enphase Microinverter system. The Microinverter system is unique in that it allows the panels to collect the maximum amount of sunlight, regardless if part of the panel is covered by shade or any other obstructers. Bob Taylor, Director of Operations at Abt, said that “We were very excited to give the school a much larger system than typical to most of these store because of the new products we are using which have a better value for their dollar.”
