Abt-Solutley Delicious: Air Fryer Donuts

Everyone loves fried foods, and that crispy, flakey, oily deliciousness. Unfortunately, those flavor-packed treats are not so good for you. Eating too much fried food can have a negative impact on your health and wellness. So how do we keep our health in check while still enjoying the heavenly sweets that come from hot oil? Two words: Air Fryer. Air Fryers are a great way to conveniently enjoy those crispy, traditionally fried foods without the guilt.

This countertop appliance is easily becoming the talk of the town, and everyone’s gift registry must-have.  For this recipe, we’ll be using the Philips Viva Collection Airfryer. This air fryer uses TurboStar Technology to circulate heat and evenly cook food from top to bottom, giving food that “crispy on the outside but tender on the inside” taste that everyone loves. From traditional favorites like fries and fried chicken, to sweet festive desserts like churros, this air fryer can handle it all!

Today we’re going to show you how we made these super simple air fryer donuts. They’re perfect for a fall morning at home or as a nice treat to make and share with coworkers. We’ll be making two variants: Cinnamon Sugar and Apple Cider Glazed.

Using a 1-inch biscuit cutter, punch holes in the center of each biscuit—keep the centers to make donut holes along with the full-sized donuts. Spray your air fryer basket with olive oil spray and place donuts into the basket, making sure that they’re not touching each other. Cook on the ‘Bake’ function at 350 Degrees F for 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove donuts from the air fryer basket, dip each side in melted butter and then the cinnamon sugar mixture. Make sure each side is evenly coated.

For the apple cider glazed donuts: make the apple cider glaze by boiling the apple cider until reduced to half. Add powdered sugar slowly while whisking the mixture to make sure there are no lumps, then add the light corn syrup. Once the glaze is cooled and slightly thickened, dip the top side of each donut into the glaze. Make sure the top is evenly coated and then rest the donut on the bottom, the glaze should drip evenly on the sides reaching the bottom.
