Meet the Creator of the Iconic G-Shock Watch

More than 35 years ago, an engineer at Casio found himself frustrated with the fragility of affordable watches, so he took it upon himself to create something that could withstand the worst situations a watch might ever encounter. This watch would be able to survive a 30-foot drop, a swim in waters more than 300 feet deep, and have a battery that would last ten years. The engineer dubbed his creation Gravitational Shock (G-Shock for short) and it was an immediate success. Since its creation, more than one hundred million G-Shock watches have been shipped, they have become a mainstay in the streetwear scene, and that engineer, Kikuo Ibe, has become an icon in the watch world. Next month, Mr. Ibe will be coming to Abt for a special G-Shock event. Fans will be able to meet the legendary creator and have him sign gear. Mr. Ibe will bringing along some exclusive watch models, and the first thirty customers who spend $500 or more on G-Shock watches will receive a signed DW5600 model for free.
