Spring cleaning gets all the attention, but one of the best times to tidy up the house is as the summer is coming to an end. Your patio, landscaping and sporting gear has been put to use all summer—or stayed completely unused—giving you a good idea of which items you might want to get rid of. Children are going back to school with new wardrobes, leaving piles of clothes that no one will wear. And the older kids are moving away to college, leaving behind furniture and electronics you may no longer need. Instead of putting all that clutter back into storage, only to clean it out in the spring, get ahead of the game by eliminating it now and going into the fall with a uncluttered basement and a nice, clean garage.
Next weekend, we’re teaming up with The Salvation Army, The Burke Group, and The Village of Rosemont for a recycling and donation event that will give you a chance to de-clutter for free! Hosted by The Burke Group at their main office (9575 W Higgins Road, Rosemont, IL), the event is the perfect opportunity for you to rid your home of unneeded things like old clothes and linens, furniture, books, household goods and more, without the hassle of setting up a garage sale or the cost of paying someone to haul them away. You can also bring by old electronics (excluding TVs), used batteries, and appliances, which will be recycled in an environmentally-friendly way. Your home will end up a little tidier, and you can take pride in knowing you didn’t just kick a pile of stuff to the curb so it could end up in a landfill. We hope to see you there! But if you can’t make it out next weekend, remember, Abt’s on-site recycling center accepts drop-offs of appliances and electronics five days a week, all-year long.
