Cell Phones by Armani and Prada?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

The number of cell phone choices available to customers keeps growing larger every day, so the major manufacturers have to do whatever they can to make their particular products stand out from the crowd. One way to get your phones noticed is by employing a unique design, which is just what Samsung has done with its Armani T-Mobile Unlocked cellular phone, now available at Abt.

This fashionable phone features a distinctive Giorgio Armani design for the style-conscious consumer and comes with a luxurious carrying pouch. Samsung has been working with premium brands such as Armani and Bang & Olufsen to create innovative products, leading to the creation of this Armani phone and other upscale consumer electronics. In addition to its unique styling, the Armani phone features a 3.15 megapixel camera, a 2.6-inch touchscreen, a music and video player, Bluetooth 2.0, a 60MB internal memory, and more.

Another cellular phone for the upscale crowd is the LG Prada phone, which is equally as stylish as the Armani phone. The Prada features a capacitive touchscreen, a 2 megapixel camera, a music and video player, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.0, and an FM radio. The LG Prada has been available at Abt for the past few months.

“A nice feature of both the Armani and Prada phones is that they have Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP,” says Abt cellular phone sales specialist Brian Rozycki. “This means they can transfer 2-channel stereo audio, rather than just mono, to a headset or car radio. Among the differences between the two phones is that the Armani is smaller than the Prada and also has about a six hour talk time, as opposed to around three hours for the Prada.”

If you want high style to go along with your high tech, you can’t go wrong with either of these phones. Click here to see all the latest cellular phones and accessories available at Abt. –by Graham W.

Abt Now Carries Klipsch Speakers Online

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Some companies become synonymous with excellence, building a solid reputation over the years for exceptional quality and innovation. Klipsch is one such company, and Abt is proud to be one of its retail partners. Recently, Klipsch decided to expand its internet presence, and the company made us a part of that endeavor as well.

Abt now carries a full line of Klipsch speakers on our website, where we feature Klipsch Reference Series floorstanding loudspeakers, bookshelf speakers, subwoofers, center channel speakers, in-wall speakers, in-ceiling speakers, and iPod speakers. One of the great features of Klipsch speakers is that they’re very efficient, so they don’t need a lot of power to drive them.

“They’re unlike any other speakers,” says Abt audio/video sales consultant Shahab Astabraghpour. “Klipsch speakers are very bright, brilliant, and brassy, and they’re great for things like classical music. I’m a big fan of theirs for movies, because they really make the subtleties in the audio stand out. People owe it to themselves to check out Klipsch speakers.”

Stop in at Abt and give these great speakers a listen. Or, if you already know which Klipsch speakers you like, click here and order online. –by Graham W.

Meet the Easter Bunny at Abt

Friday, March 21st, 2008

The Easter Bunny loves to come hopping into Abt each year to meet with as many children as possible by the fountain in our atrium area, which has been given a Spring-like makeover featuring lots of flowers and bright colors. The Bunny’s been bouncing around our store for the past few weekends and will be here from noon until 4:00 pm this Saturday, so stop in and pay him a visit. Like most bunnies, he’s as friendly as he is fuzzy, and he loves to have kids pose for a complimentary picture with him. He’s also giving out free candy and stickers.

Carmen and Easter Bunny

“I give up carrots each year at Easter time,” the Bunny told us. “I’m all about candy and colored eggs this weekend. Hey, everyone goes off their diet every once in awhile. I’ll hop around the fountain a few times to stay in shape.”

By the way, you don’t have to be an actual kid to pose for a picture and get some candy. Just make sure you don’t accidentally leave your children at home.      by Graham W.

March Madness Spawns Hi-Def Madness

Friday, March 21st, 2008

The usual March Madness experienced by rabid fans of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament is being heightened this year by another form of madness—the fever-inducing desire for an HDTV to take in the full glory and grandeur of this roundball brawl.

According to a survey by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the tournament is expected to spark the sale of approximately one million HDTVs. That figure represents around $1 billion in retail sales, or about the same dollar amount that’s being wagered in office pools across the nation. That’s just a guess of course—people might actually be betting twice that much.

With the tournament just underway, you might have noticed that you’re one of those people suddenly coming down with this double dose of madness. If so, click here for the cure and select from Abt’s huge selection of HDTVs. To do otherwise would truly be madness. Go UCLA!    —by Graham W.

Abt Receives First U.S. Shipment Of Wearable Digital Camcorder

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Are you one of those people who “hucks, jumps, throws, and crashes themselves through life,” and wants to get it all on video? That, according to a company called Twenty20, is exactly what you’ll be able to do once you get your hands on the VholdR, a completely self-contained, palm-sized camcorder that’s designed for you adventurous types.

Actually, you don’t even have to get your hands on it, since it’s made for mounting on a helmet, bicycle, motorcycle, or just about anywhere you want to put it. The VholdR will provide you with wire-free and tape-free video recording of your extreme activities (and your tame ones too, when you get tired), all with simple one-click operation along with seamless sharing through uploading to YouTube.

This tough little weatherproof camcorder is made of anodized aluminum and weighs only 4.8 ounces. Its compact 3.7-inch length ensures that it will stay out of your way while it captures your adventures, using a lens that rotates 180 degrees and two lasers to frame the scene, since you won’t be looking through the viewfinder. It also features a waterproof omni-directional microphone.

If this sounds like the camcorder for you, you’ve come to the right place. Abt is currently one of only two retailers in the U.S. that got the first shipment of the VholdR. Click here for more details. To view all of our camcorders, click here.     –by Graham W.

Two Days Are Better Than One

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Extending our Customer Appreciation sale from the usual one day event to cover both days this past weekend proved to be a great success, with customers enjoying the extra sale hours and reduced crowding. These factors also meant that our store personnel were able to devote more time to individual shoppers, which made the event even more special.

Individual sections of our store, including the Sony Store and the Apple Store, reported that customers enjoyed being able to take advantage of the sale prices while also having better access to salespeople if they had questions. The computer and iPod stations at the Apple Store were extremely popular, with sales greatly exceeding a normal weekend’s totals.

“The buzz on iPods and the iPod Touch still lives,” said Apple Store sales specialist Josh Davis. “People couldn’t wait to try them out for themselves, and lots of people ended up buying one or more. It’s that Abt hands-on experience that the Apple Store can provide. It helps people make informed buying decisions.”

If you missed out on this special weekend, be sure to sign up for the Abt e-mail newsletter and also check our website frequently to stay up to date on all of our sales events. —by Graham W.

Abt Customer Appreciation Weekend

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Abt holds Customer Appreciation Day sales a few times a year with special deals that give returning customers a chance to pick up the latest electronics and appliances at savings beyond our everyday low prices. For the first time, this event will be extended to both days this weekend to give people more of an opportunity to fit the sale into their schedules and also to reduce the crowding that usually occurs (see photo).

During the sale, in-store customers can also receive special 12-month financing on all items. In addition, Sony and Abt are combining on a green initiative where customers receive a $75 credit toward a new Sony television when they bring their old Sony TVs to the Abt recycling center, located behind the southwest end of our main store.      –by Graham W.
