Abt Brings Professional Equipment to a Professional Cook

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Chicago Magazine did a special expose on Chicago chef, Stephanie Izzard.  Stephanie is famous for winning on reality TV’s Top Chef and the owner of the restaurant, “Girl and the Goat” and Abt was pleased to present her with a Wolf Range to use during a demonstration and show off her cooking skills.

Stephanie Izzard has been making a name for herself since the moment she broke out into the public eye.  Just recently she won the award for the Top 10 Best Chefs in the US by Wine Magazine.  Much luck to Stephanie and her award winning accomplishments.

Abt Builder’s Gala

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

This past Wednesday Abt held an in-store Builder’s Gala which brought in over 175 builders, architects, designers, and landscapers to see Abt and get information from all the vendors on what we have to offer. Vendors from each vignette were there, as well as other vendors from our store.

All builders got a one page questionnaire, along with a goodie bag.  By filling out the questionnaire and asking these questions to the vendors, they were awarded raffle tickets for a ton of great things at Abt, including a KitchenAid stand mixer, Scotsman icemaker, pots and pans sets by Dacor and Bluestar, wine coolers by GE and Electrolux, a Viking gas range, Miele vacuum, baking stone, hand mixer, 2 GE microwaves, lunch/ cooking event for Miele and SubZero/Wolf, faucets, Bosch and Jenn-Air dishwashers, and a Thermador steam oven.

To top off this fantastic event, drinks and hors d’oeuvres were provided by Jolane’s.

Thank to everyone that participated!

Abt's Frequently Asked Questions

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

I recently spoke to the internet sales specialists at Abt, and I asked them what customers most frequently asked when they called in… I was surprised to hear that they all received the same questions repeatedly. So, I thought I would take a minute to post the most commonly asked questions and an answer to them.

Most Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Do you price match?
Yes, Abt price matches with authorized dealers of products. Usually authorized sellers appear on the manufacturer’s brand page. If you have trouble locating that information, just give us a call and we can assist you with determining if the store you would like to price match is an authorized seller.

2. What are Abt’s store hours?
Abt’s store hours are located here.

3. Where is Abt located, and when I call in am I speaking to someone at that location?
Abt’s directions and directions are available here.

4. What are Abt’s delivery areas?
Abt delivers and does service within 100 miles of the store. Here is a delivery and service map:

5. How can I tell which water filter is right for my refrigerator?
If you have purchased a refrigerator in the past 6-12 months, then you can simply go on Abt.com and look for accessories under the manufacturer of the refrigerator and the correct filter will be listed. If you have a model that is over a year old, you can call an Abt sales specialist for assistance in finding the filter for you.

6. How much is shipping on my item? You can calculate the shipping cost for your item(s) on Abt.com. For example, look at the image below. The customer is buying a large microwave to be shipped to Los Angeles, CA. You will input your zip code and shipping will be calculated for you. Abt offers free shipping on thousands of items throughout the store.

7. Do I have to pay tax? Only if you are a resident of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, or Wisconsin you will have to pay the tax for your state.
Illinois: 9.75%
Indiana: 7%
Michigan: 6%
Wisconsin: 5.1%-5.5% depending on the county in which you reside.

8. Are the product that you sell new or refurbished?
Abt sell new products as well as floor models, otherwise known as open box. If you are looking for an open box item, you may request that, otherwise you are going to get a new item.

9. Why can’t you ship Wolf, Sub-Zero, GE Monogram, Kitchen Aid, Viking, Thermador, GE Café, and Jenn Air products to me?
Abt is bound to a contract with the manufacturers of those products. Based on the contract, you can purchase Kitchen Aid products on-line, but they can only be shipped within 100 miles of the store. Likewise, the other brands have restricted delivery areas, but can’t be purchased on-line.

Wolf, Sub-zero, Kitchen Aid, Viking, and Thermador can be shipped to a 100 mile radius of the store, see map below:

Jenn Air can be shipped to a 150-mile radius, see map below:

GE Monogram and GE Café can be shipped to Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, and Kentucky, see map below:

10. What is 3D and how can I get it?
3D is the latest TV technology and anyone can get it at home. You will need a few necessary components that can make 3D in your living room a reality: a 3D or 3D-ready TV, 3D compatible HDMI cables, a 3D Blu-ray player, a 3D satellite or cable box, and 3D active shutter glasses. For more information on 3D technology, take a look at the 3D guide on Abt.com.

Win with Abt and Kohler this Weekend

Friday, September 11th, 2009

The Kohler Store, Fox Lighting Galleries, Lutron, Subzero, Wolf, Viking, DDK, Exotic Marble and Tile, and Avanti are all participating in a national water conservation campaign. The event in the atrium takes place at Abt Electronics this Saturday, September 12 from 10 am- 5 pm and Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 11 am-5 pm to show consumers how to cut down on water and energy consumption.

After speaking with Lynn Schrange of the Kohler Store, I realized how little that I knew about how water is wasted in a home.

Lynn pointed out that our planet is made up of 75% water, although only less than 1% is ok to drink. We need to really work on keeping our water supply safe—there’s not that much there. In homes, we can save up to 39,000 gallons per year by making small—almost unnoticeable changes to our lives. 39,000 gallons is enough drinking water for a family of four for an entire year or enough to fill a swimming pool.

The first change the Save Water America Campaign tells us to make is get a low flow faucet and turn off water when it’s not in use (like when we are brushing our teeth). That can save 14, 700 gallons of water per year. Next, installing a low-flow shower head can conserve 7,700 gallons per year. Most impressive, if we were to install low flow toilets and remove leaky ones, we could save 16,500 gallons of water each year.

Lynn also told me about a simple quiz about water conservation that is on the Kohler website. If you take this simple 90-second quiz, one dollar will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

There will be prizes, drawings, and products available for purchase. All of the items that are available for purchase are eligible for free delivery and there are installation options for all of the energy conserving products!
