The Big Game is just a few days away, but there’s still time to make sure you’re set up with all the gear that will make Sunday as super as possible. Our resident tech expert, Josh, paid a visit to our friends at WGN News to talk about some must-have products that will make the most out of your gameday.

Abt Electronics stopped by Chicago’s WGN Studios and delivered the toys from the WGN & Jennifer Hudson Toy Drive that have been collected from customers and employees the last several weeks. We are pleased to say the outpouring of contributions was much more than last year. We hope this will be a growing trend of continual giving and helpfulness for years to come. Thank you all who participated!
Josh Davis, a salesman here at Abt, visited Chicago’s WGN station this week to talk about some great gift ideas for Father’s day. Find out what’s hot and perfect that’ll surely please dad.
The following is a list of all the products featured in the segment:
We had a visit from WGN Chicago TV earlier today. They did a segment on our Chicago Bears in the playoffs and how the best way to watch a football game, is to watch it at home with a big screen TV. Or, if you’d like, a big screen 3D TV, since the Super bowl will be broadcast for the first time in 3D. Check out our full line of HDTVs.
This morning was a real treat for us here at Abt. In addition to WGN Morning News making an appearance we had the pleasure of seeing the Aurora Christian School perform Christmas Carols live in our Atrium. Their rendition of “Carol of the Bells” was absolutely mesmerizing.
We even did a segment with Ana Belaval from WGN showcasing some of the great small electronic items you can get for someone on your holiday gift list.
Tomorrow, December 7th, 2010 WGN TV and Abt Electronics are teaming up for WGN’s 8th year Toy Drive. This year WGN is partnering with the Jennifer Hudson Foundation in Honor of Julian King. WGN will be on location in the morning at Abt Electronics to promote the special event.
We are open from 9am-9pm, so all day tomorrow, if you come in and donate a toy, you will receive a free, $20 gift card from Abt Electronics. One gift card per family. Our promotion is for Monday, Dec 7th only, but the actual toy collection will go until December 16th. We hope you can make it out to brighten the holiday for a child this season. See you there!
If you’re a native to the Chicagoland area, you will probably know the name Roy Leonard. Roy was the radio host for WGN’s mid-day radio show for 31 years and is considered on one of Chicago’s most trusted voices. He has interviewed entertainment stars such as Sophia Loren, Sylvester Stallone, Bette Midler, Paul McCartney and more. He has a blog where he talks about his past experiences with these celebrities and also what is going on in his life at the moment.
So it was an honor to have him mention Abt in his July 4th blog “Retail service hasn’t vanished. You just have to look for it.” Roy talks about his experience as a long time Abt customer and cites a built-in air conditioner installation as an example of Abt’s service. He tells his readers how removing the old unit wasn’t easy for our installers, but they were able to get the job done. However, the install wasn’t complete. Our installers wanted to make sure the outside frame wasn’t damaged (turns out they had to replace it) and actually painted the frame to match the trim. All this for no additional charge.
At Abt, customer satisfaction is our number one goal. It has been since David and Jewel Abt opened the doors at the first Abt location in 1936. I’m sure that Roy isn’t the only Abt customer who has experienced our above and beyond service. Let us know about your experiences! We hear about them every day from our employees, but sometimes some fall through the cracks. What was your favorite Abt moment?
This afternoon, Abt’s own Josh D., was on WGN Midday Fix talking about how easy it is to create a sports bar in your home.
Josh explained, “There are several ways to accomplish the ultimate sports viewing experience in your home depending, on your budget. Screen sizes can vary from 19” to over 100” depending on the size of your room, you may find two sets work for you, but for the ultimate sports experience we recommend four.”
