Every year on Earth Day, Abt holds a special event in the atrium showcasing a whole lotta Earth Fun activities. Yesterday’s Earth Day was no different. Special thanks to everyone involved including the folks and Glenview’s The Grove for bringing their animals and the people at Fields Fisker of Northfield for showcasing their electric car.

Yesterday Abt Electronics celebrated Earth Day in style! For starters we had on display an electric car from Tesla motors. With a sleek design, it is also extremely energy efficient. Up to 245 miles per charge and goes 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds, this car releases no tailpipe emissions.
In addition to that, The Grove from Glenview Park District came out and showed our customers some of their popular reptiles like turtles and snakes. Going over the importance of taking care of our environment to keep their ecosystems safe and healthy, all the kids were in awe.
It was another great exciting Earth day. Visit Abt’s Green Efforts for more information on how Abt continues to try and make this planet a better place for everyone.
Abt celebrated Earth Day on Sunday; it was quite a kick off to Earth Week.
We had so many Earth Friendly activities. Our Glenview neighbors at the Grove brought some cool snakes and turtles for everyone to get to know. Com Ed told us about their environmentally friendly programs. Dan from Garvy’s Office Supplies showed us all sorts of recycled office products. Abt gave tours of the recycling center and had Earth Day treats like granola and oatmeal raisin cookies. Kids who visited got to make sun catchers and mouse pads from recycled materials.
Abt’s goal is to make everyday Earth Day, according to Abt’s President Mike Abt. “Our goal is to have no waste, and we are close,” said Mike. “It’s a core value of the company and is demonstrated in everything we do.”

The Wilmette Park District Kindergarten Enrichment Program visited Abt today. This group of 5 and 6-year-olds are well traveled. They go on two field trips per week, visiting local businesses and attractions like The Grove in Glenview and Make-A-Messterpiece in the Glen.
The 19 kindergartners were escorted around Abt by Ara B. He showed them some of Abt’s fun, kid-friendly interactive displays. The kids started their day at Abt looking at the 5,381 pound granite ball next to electronics service. The ball floats on water making it possible for a child as small as a 4-year-old capable of spinning and stopping the massive ball.
Next, the kids went to the 7,500 gallon aquarium, home to many colorful fish and eel. After visiting the fish, the group went to Abt’s atrium. There the kids got to see the fountain’s dancing waters, the mousetrap, the butterflies, and then each child was surrounded by a giant bubble in the bubble machine.
Before concluding their visit at Abt, the kids stopped at the security office to get a behind the scenes look at the store and then walk through the metal detectors. Before heading out the kids enjoyed a sweet snack with Ara.
