CEDIA 2011: Definitive Technology’s New Subwoofers

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Definitive Technology, known for their speakers and subwoofers released information on their two newest SuperCubes.

Each of these new models boasts a bass output comparable to subwoofers twice their size. Definitive says that the SC4000 occupies just under one cubic foot of volume, while the SC6000  can snugly fit into a space just over that amount. That means that either one should work in smaller spot, as well as installs if you wish to hide the sub inside a cabinet.

The Perfect Match for Your HDTV

Monday, June 7th, 2010

There is a new speaker on the block, or should I say, on the wall; it’s lean, sleek, and will pair nicely with new super-skinny TVs. Definitive Technologies, has created the perfect Mythos speaker complement for shrinking HDTVs and LEDs.

Definitive’s latest Mythos, the XTR-50 ($699), is a trim 1.5 inches thick, 25 inches tall, and six inches wide. It’s designed to be mounted to a wall acting as a left, right, and center channel portion of a surround sound system, although It can also reside on a shelf or speaker stand, if wall mounting is not for you.

XTR-50 isn’t the first speaker of its kind, but it is the first with good sound. So, how much power does this speaker pack? It’s got two, three-and-a-half inch XTDD anodized Aluminum dome mid/bass drivers that are pressure coupled to four, three-and-a-half inch dome low-bass radiators along with one, one inch Aluminum dome tweeter—the same tweeter used in the Mythos ST Super Tower($1,999).

Ideally, you will want to add a sub, Definitive recommends ProSub300 ($399) and consider a duo of XTR-50s, one for each side of your TV. Even if they are the best-sounding skinny speakers on the market and does a great job with the higher frequencies, it still needs some assistance when it comes to hitting the lows.

Check out the XTR-50 on Abt.com or see it in the showroom today. For help with picking the perfect speaker solution for you, speak with an Abt, home theater sales specialist today.

Kicker Car Audio, Now Available at Abt

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Why Kicker audio products? Because they are LOUD! The Solo-Baric subwoofer generates more sound than similar size subs from other manufacturers. Due to their design, there is a ton of power handling and the bass is unmatched.

Kicker uses SoloKon, a one piece, injection-molded cone that can push more air and create a louder bass than other same-sized, round subwoofers. Along with the SoloKon enhanced sound, some of Solo-Baric’s outstanding features are the dual high-temp voice coils, a poly-cotton progressive spider, Spiralead tinsel-lead technology, Uniplate pole piece/back plate, and a heat-reducing cut top plate.

Kicker Solo-Baric L7s are now at Abt, in sizes ranging from 8, 10, 12, and 15” models.

So, if you want unparalleled sound, check them out today!
