According to a survey done by BIGresearch for the National Retail Federation, around 138 million shoppers are expected to make it out to stores this Black Friday weekend. This constitutes a 3% increase from last year’s numbers.
Some believe this rise in numbers is because of the buzz that retailers have created by already releasing information for their biggest sales. This sneak peek allows shoppers to accurately set up where and when to make it for the best deals. Abt’s employees work 24 hours a day to keep day-to-day operations running at the high standards set by generations of the Abt family. Most day employees arrive between 3-9am, although employees come and go all day and night long.
Thursday began like most, with one major exception, at 8:30am Ross Haskell, the director of marketing at Bold Software, and a production crew came in to spend the day taping a video for the Internet Retailer Conference and Exhibition (IRCE) 2010.
The IRCE is a conference where internet retailers convene to learn from each other over a four-day period each June. This year both Jon Abt and Ross Haskell will be speaking for a conference session to discuss software that has become a lifeline of our customer’s internet retail experience. Bold Software created BoldChat, a technology responsible for giving our customers the ability to speak with a customer service or sales specialists live on-line regarding anything from product specs to tracking info to sales quotes.

It looks like the economy may be in an upswing. Master Card is reporting consumer electronics sales are up 6% in February 2010. This increase was over a one year period, following a slight climb in sales by 0.4% in January.
Despite the horrible storms in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and North Central regions of the country, consumer electronics sales have steadily risen and are continuing to do so.
Another retail sector that is enjoying the increase in volume is e-commerce. Those sales swelled by 16.7% over the course of a year. It’s likely that internet retailers benefitted from the bad weather.
