Onkyo Receivers – Imaginative Sight & Sound

Friday, May 27th, 2011

So due to the storms a couple of weeks back, I had to replace my beloved Onkyo TXSR805 Audio/Video receiver. I had it hooked in to Panamax of course, so they are taking care of the replacement cost. When looking for the replacement it was a no-brainer to go to the Onkyo TXNR808. As good as the old Onkyo was – Wow this new one is great! The picture going through the receiver looks amazing, and the audio is very detailed. I also like the fact that it is a network receiver, meaning if you connect it to your network, you can access Pandora, Internet radio Stations, and Rhapsody. The supply of music is almost endless. I must say I have had many different brands of audio video receivers, but will be staying with Onkyo for the foreseeable future.

Abt carries many different A/V receivers by Onkyo.  Learn more about Abt’s line of Onkyo A/V receivers.

CES 2011: Pioneer's New Line of Receivers

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

Pioneer unveiled their new line of receivers.  Similar to the current models, the VSX series, the newer units will be able to dock an iPad to play music.  What differentiates Pioneer’s new receivers from other manufacturer’s receivers that can dock an iPad, is that Pioneer’s are fully iPad compatible.  This means while you  are listening to music, the iPad is charging at the same time.

Audioengine W1 at Abt

People ask me all the time how can they transfer music from the computer without being complicated. Look no further than the Audioengine W1 wireless adapter. It is as simple as plugging it into your desktop or laptop computer.

Rather than using Bluetooth technology, this unit uses a locked 802.11 wifi network to connect your laptop to your receiver or speakers from up to 100 feet away. It can wireless send your mp3’s or favorite internet stations by just pressing play. You can also use this set up with your mobile phone, game system, Flat Screen TV, and CD/DVD player. I like to bundle this with Audioengine’s A5 premium powered bookshelf speakers for amazing sound that I can take anywhere in the house. They’re crisp, clear and have great definition.

Disappearing iPod

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

This year’s CES brought a lot of really cool gadgets. One standout car audio product is the Sony DSX-S100. It is a stereo head unit that makes listening to an iPod on your car stereo a snap.

If you’ve ever seen a car stereo’s faceplate slide down so you can put in a CD, the DSX-S100 works much the same. The face slides off the unit’s base and a tray comes out with a plug. The iPod simply gets plugged into the stereo and then just set the iPod on the slide out tray and you are ready to listen to music.

Look for the DSX-S100 at Abt, sometime next month.
