An Android Phone at Breakneck Speed

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Motorola’s Atrix, coming out in March will be hitting the market as the fastest working Android phone on the market.  Originally unveiled at CES 2011, the phone will have unbelievable speed as well as unique features like a fingerprint scanner to unlock your phone.  On top of that, the Atrix will also double as a laptop.  Not in size, but rather in capabilities.

It can become your personal computer. Take it to work, pair it with a special Motorola dock and it acts just like a laptop.  Once connected to the dock, a mobile view of your phone launches on your laptop screen. You can make a call right off your phone directly from the desktop.  It dials out automatically using the speaker from the phone.

Did You Know? Part 2

Did you know that majority of cell phones have Bluetooth Technology? Kevin R., Abt internet sales specialist tells me, “That’s important in the state of Illinois because it’s illegal to talk on a phone while driving. You can have the phone on speakerphone but that isn’t really isn’t hands free when you’re holding the phone up to your chin.” This is true not only in Illinois, but also as more states begin to implement this law.

He also says, “You can use a Bluetooth capable phone for anything from sending friends funny pictures or the song that’s been stuck in my head all night. My favorite Bluetooth device is the Motorola MOTOROKR S9-HD. I can fist pump in the gym wirelessly and if I get interrupted by a phone call during my set, I can answer the phone and pick up right where I left off. It has a built in microphone so I can answer the calls and catch my breath before I hit the iron again.”

“Bluetooth technology is a great addition to any iPhone, Blackberry, Palm or any other Smartphone you can’t go the day without,” according to Kevin. You can purchase Kevin’s favorite Bluetooth device, or chose from our wide range of Bluetooth devices at Abt or on Abt.com.

A Phone That Really Hears You

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Will Motorola’s new Droid be the future of smart phones? Available for pre-order now, the $199 Droid has some features that other smart phones don’t have.

Voice activated search is the stand-out characteristic this phone has that others don’t. How does it work? By using the voice-activated search, users will be able to say something like grocery store into the phone and it will immediately create a list of grocery stores in the area—with turn-by-turn and spoken directions.

Will the Droid give iPhone a run for its money, according to the executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon, no. The Droid is looked at as more of an alternative to the iPhone—not a replacement.

Motorola boasts a richer web, sharper photos, and a DVD-quality recorder. It’s got the thinnest QWERTY sliding keyboard on the market and super-fast 3G speed for quicker searches.

Will you see the Droid at Abt? Come in or check out our selections of cell phones.
