And the Award Went to….Abt Electronics

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

The Abt family is constantly asked why their business thrives; what’s their secret to success? Most simply, they hold true to the values passed down from their parents and grandparents. Jewel and David Abt taught future generations to relish change, keep the store uniquely exciting, and take care of customers.

After being nominated for a U.S. Global Innovator Award (gia), by Peter Giannetti, of Home World Business Magazine (HWBM), Abt was honored as a gia winner on March 14th. The awards dinner was at the Hotel Intercontinental in Chicago. Ricky Abt and Joe Klett attended to accept the award. It is the Abt Family’s commitment to Jewel and Dave’s advice that helped win this award.

Home World Business magazine showcased Abt and their Global Innovator Award in the March 14th issue. Abt’s unique 358,000 square foot facility, Atrium, and business practices were also highlighted.

Robert (Bob) Abt, CEO, was the visionary behind Abt’s unique showroom. Keeping the store unique and exciting was at the forefront of his design concept. Bob is “a student of the Steve Wynn school of visual merchandising, and he readily admits the iconic Las Vegas casino innovator was his biggest inspiration,” Peter Giannetti reported in the March 14th issue of HWBM.

The Bellagio was Bob’s design influence for the Atrium; which some compare to a mall. At the center of the Atrium is a fountain and surrounding the fountain’s dancing waters is a series of kitchen vignettes and boutique stores. The Abt family wants their customers to have a unique shopping experience. The Atrium provides a comfortable environment and entertainment for the whole family.

Looking past the esthetics of the store, Abt thrives, thanks to unmatched customer service and the green initiatives. The recycling center, using a co-generator, and selling environmentally friendly electronics and appliances have helped to reduce Abt’s carbon footprint.

Abt is still family owned and managed by Bob and his four sons, Mike, Jon, Ricky, and Billy. There is always an Abt family member at the store, Jewel and Dave’s vision is achieved everyday.

Taking care of customers by providing unparalleled service pre- and post-sale service is a number one priority, as seen in the customer service motto posted throughout the store, “The Answer is Always Yes to any Reasonable Request.”

Abt has been growing and changing with customers since 1936; Abt will continue to do so as long as there are appliances and electronics in the home.

Taking Control in Vegas

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Control4 is known for synchronizing all the systems in your home and making life easier. It allows one-touch home theater control, multi-room music access, smart lighting, advanced temperature control, and will even connect to your security system. Now, Control4 will be known for so much more.

Multiple venues in Las Vegas will use Control4 to run CityCenter, more specifically, the ARIA Gaming Resort, Mandarin Las Vegas, Vdara Hotel and Spa, Veer Tower, and The Harmon Hotel. Control4 will assist guests of each hotel with adjusting the lighting in their rooms, the room temperature, in-room TV/Video systems, music, wake-up calls, drapes, and service requests for the duration of their stay.

The Control4 multi-room system is more than an added convenience for customers. It will also eliminate the necessary wiring in traditional construction projects, aiding in conservation by decreasing the need for materials. At the guest level, it will shut-down the empty rooms, diminishing the electricity consumption. Control4 will allow guests to, “green their stay,” by selecting green setting for all of the energy using devices in the guest room.

Do you prefer hotels where you can “green your stay?” If so, Abt can offer you the same system for your home. We are an authorized Control4 retailer and installer.

CES 2010 Is Now Over

Monday, January 11th, 2010

The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show is over; all the booths are down and the attendees are returning to their respective companies, heads dizzy from all of the new technology they’ve just seen.

The hottest categories this year were definitely Green Tech, 3D, and Smartphones. The tablet computer has been the talk of Vegas all weekend. CES saw different manufacturer’s versions of the tablet, but Apple’s long awaited announcement, January 27, has overshadowed the models we’ve seen. Apple will not confirm that the announcement is going to be the release of the Apple tablet, but it is intensely speculated.

Stay up to date about all the latest technology right here on the Abt Blog. For more information on the products seen at CES, talk with an Abt sales specialist.

CES 2010 Kicks Off Tonight With Ballmer's Keynote Address

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Tomorrow is the official start of the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Many people will arrive today to get a headstart on viewing all the greatest new consumer electronics. Some of the newest technology has already been leaked. Here are a few of the new products that you should check out.

iHome is revealing the iP2. It’s an iPod docking station perfect for a kitchen. With a 50-watt amp you will be able to listen to your favorite tunes—even with your stand mixer running at full speed. The iP2 comes equipped with a timer, FM radio tuner, and so much more. Its stream-lined look will coordinate with any kitchen décor.

ASUS will be re-releasing the Eee Keyboard PC. First revealed in 2009, the keyboard PC had a few too many bugs for public launch. Now, it seems, the keyboard PC is ready for release. The Eee keyboard is rumored to be ready to hit the market sometime within the next month.

Tablet PCs have long been meant for specific users, usually in a technology field where the design and function of a slate computer is necessary. Today at the CES opening key-note speech at 6:30pm PT, Steve Ballmer will introduce an HP-built “slate-type computer.” What will this computer do? Stay tuned to the Abt blog for updates!

Would you like to watch digital TV anywhere? Samsung has the answer for you. Samsung’s (Android-driven) “Moment” has been altered slightly to allow for a digital TV tuner. Currently, it is still in the concept phase, but within a few months, trial phones will be in use in Baltimore and Washington D.C.

Check the Abt Blog for the latest news from CES 2010.
