Today marks the 10th anniversary of our retail store in Glenview, IL. This store is currently the fifth location we’ve opened with previous locations being held in Chicago, Niles and Morton Grove. Each move has offered Abt Electronics the opportunity to expand and try new things. Our current location is an exemplification of brilliant business ethics, mixed with pure passion and enthusiasm for the work that is put into this building every day.

Thank you to everyone who came out for the Abt Accounting Department Ice Cream Social. Over 45 people showed up and enjoyed ice cream from Homer’s Ice Cream from Jolane’s. The event was a great success–and if success is measured in ice cream consumed, then this was an overwhelming success. I know, it’s hard to pass up ice cream. Also, a special thanks to Bridgitte Landis for setting it up!
Watch Monday Night Football or Dancing with the Stars at Jolanes Restaurant and Bar on Monday’s and Tuesdays and enjoy their drink specials; ½ priced martinis on Monday and $3 import bottles on Tuesday.
Located just 500 yards south of Abt Electronics, sit back, relax and enjoy your programming on two 55’’ 3D, LCD Samsung televisions in the newly built Jolane’s conservatory. Unfortunately, as of right now, neither of those programs are broadcast in 3D, but feel free to ask your server to show you a demo with the 3D glasses on hand. Just, maybe wait during a commercial break.
Not a fan of football or dancing, but love specials? No worries. The specials run all day. If you haven’t seen their menu, take a look. There’s something in there for even the most discerning of tastes. Stop by and enjoy!

Abt is happy to be the venue for the Cradle’s 5th annual Night of Promise charity event. Saturday, April 24th from 7-11pm event attendees will enjoy great music, gourmet food, a silent auction, an open bar, and so much more.
Founded in 1923 by Florence Dahl Walrath, the Cradle has become a beacon for women who are compelled to place their babies with adoptive families as well as adoptive families, desperate yet unable to have a child.
Night of Promise began in 2005 and all proceeds went to orphanages in Russia. Over the past five years the benefit has stopped aiding Russian orphanages, now donating the money to Cradle programs, Cradle children’s services, expectant mothers and families, and to provide lifelong support to anyone touched by adoption.
Co-chairs Penelope Boardman and Amy Novicki have worked hard to make this year’s event as successful as the preceding years.
For more information on the Cradle’s Night of Promise or to purchase tickets, visit http://www.cradle.org.

Abt has a special fundraiser today and the following two Fridays. All Abt employees may wear jeans to work for a five dollar donation per Friday. The money goes to an excellent cause. We are raising money to assist those who can’t provide for their families this holiday season.
According to Abt employee Shirley H., “We have Less than four weeks to raise the money to help families who can not provide for their families this holiday season. We will be delivering clothes, toys, and a complete holiday dinner including desserts Prepared by Jolane’s to their homes.”
Shirley went on to say, “We will also try to host [a] bake sale and [we] are currently working on a raffle.” We are hoping to provide for at least 10 families this holiday season.
No better way to celebrate their love than to return to the site of their first date. Abt would be the place Jonathan Leicht would ask Edyta Czarnowska to be his wife. With the assistance of a DVD, Leicht dropped to his knee and asked for her hand in marriage. “Sure!!!” was Czarnowska’s excited response.
Saturday, October 10, 2009 was a monumental day for Leicht and Czarnowska. One year prior they were a couple on a first date, stopping at Abt—looking for a TV; now they are a happily engaged couple.
Leicht, in orthopedic sales, explained to me, Czarnowska, a doctor, was looking for a TV; he was just the man to help. As she was about to perform a surgery Leicht gave her a map of Abt’s location with a personal note at the bottom, promising dinner when they left. The two met at Abt, went to dinner, and have been dating for the last year.
The couple was given a gift card from Abt (to start off their gift registry), as well as dinner at Jolane’s. Once the couple posed for a few pictures and answered some questions, the couple made their way to the appliance section of Abt. Before leaving to celebrate, they needed to buy a dishwasher. After all, that was the reason Czarnowska thought she was at Abt in the first place.
Congrats Edyta and Jonathan!
