While the result of this past weekend’s football game was less than thrilling for us in the Chicagoland area, a lot of the fun came from the build up. One of the exciting things came from planning a party. Josh Davis, made an appearance on NBC Morning News on Saturday to share some of his ideas for great things to have for your ultimate football party. While our Bear’s chances are dashed, all these items are still great to get for the upcoming Super Bowl in February.
On Sunday, September 19th, da Bears will be playing the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium at 12 noon. That’s the same day that we are hosting another Kids Day from 11:30am to 3pm with a Bears theme. Kids (young and old at heart) can participate in making helmets, pennants, and fingers. Also available are football bracelets, water bottles and squishy footballs to take home. For those that want to burn off some energy, we will have games, football ring toss, football toss and bags. And it wouldn’t be a complete football theme without food, so Sweet Baby Rays will be on hand for a tailgating party with free Pulled Pork sandwiches and chips. So if you’re not cheering on da Bears in the comfort of your own home, stop by Abt for Kids Day and catch the game on one of our large screen TVs, while sitting in a massage chair.
This morning, Abt’s very own Josh Davis went to the NBC studios to tape a segment for Weekend Web. He focused on gearing up for the football season. The products he highlighted were the Sony KDL40HX800 with a free 3D sync transmitter and 2 3D glasses; the Samsung PN50C450 which features a large screen for a great price; a Bose Cinemate GSII home theater system; a Bears’ themed iPad; Weber Q to maximize your tailgating experience; and the Cuisinart Popcorn Maker which is great for healthy snacks (in between pizza, wings and beer). If you miss Josh’s spot on TV, the segment will be available online. What do you think are some must have football gadgets?

Yes, it’s that time again, where men & women disappear into their magazines and computers to figure out which QB is best for their championship winning team, “Mike Ditka’s Powerful Mustache”: Fantasy Football Season!
Here are some things from Abt to make your draft day the best it can be. For up to date research on the best players, stop trying to draft Dan Marino and throw out that old Commodore 64. You need to pick up a new Sony Laptop like the VPCEB27FX with its Core 5 processor that loads web pages faster so you can pick up a receiver like Devin Aromashodu before your opponents realize his talent. You can then hook your new laptop up to a new 42” Panasonic Plasma TV with an Audioquest HDMI cable so the other teams can see your draftboard and wonder how they’ll compete with you with Jay Cutler as your QB.
Now that you’re done drafting, enjoy that success with some great food like wings fried in your Waring Deep Fryer, mini pizzas baked in your Cuisinart Convection Oven, and then wash it down with a cold one from your new Danby Compact Refrigerator. You’re finally ready for this football season, just like the Bears defense is ready to punish opposing teams.
The leaves are falling and the temperatures will soon plummet too. What does that mean for Chicagoans? It’s time for Football. Whether you are a Bears fan or just a football lover, it’s always important to spend Thursday nights, Sundays, and Monday nights watching all of your favorite games.
Sometimes, a trip to the in-laws is unavoidable. What could be worse than having a family weekend when the Bears and Packers are playing at noon on Sunday? I’ll tell you—going to your in-laws house when they don’t have a football-worthy HDTV. I’m not the only one that feels this way. Samsung actually did a little research on the topic. They commissioned a survey to find out how enticing it would be to have an HDTV at the in-laws.
Samsung’s survey found that Americans, football fans or not, agreed the best TV to watch football on is hi-def. Football fans agreed if they didn’t have the option to watch the big game from the comfort of home on their own HDTV, the best option would be to go to the in-laws if there were a hi-def TV in place. According to the survey, more than 4 out of 10 football fans believe this to be true. Men were more likely than women, however, to make the trek to the in-laws to watch football in hi-def. Samsung also noted, football fans found the quality of TV was more important than the food they ate while watching the game.
