Picture Perfect

The Abt aquarium is home to lots of beautiful fish and eel. Each day the aquarium must look spotless so customers can try out our extensive line of cameras and HD camcorders. Although we have an aquarium service come in to clean once a week, some of Abt’s employees help too. Russell, who works in electronics service, loves to dive in to clean the coral and feed the fish.

Surrounding two sides of the aquarium are the cameras and HD camcorders for customers to test on the beautiful fish and coral.

I never realized what a challenge it was to take pictures of an aquarium. Luckily, Abt has some great small electronics experts to help me choose the settings on the camera to best shoot photos through glass. The pictures I took, for being an amateur, aren’t too bad.

Why don’t you come in and take some photos of our aquarium and test out a few new cameras and HD camcorders.

One Fish, Two Fish, Three Fish, Abt Fish

Friday, August 7th, 2009

What do you get when you take an 8,000 pound tank, 60,000 pounds of water, a few Moray Eels, a 2.5 foot Leopard Shark, accompanied with other fish and put them all together? The answer – the Salt Water Aquarium at Abt Electronics and Appliances! One of the many store attractions, the 20 foot long, 8 feet deep aquarium has served as the home to a variety of sea water fish over the past seven years. Over 100 fish occupy the salt water aquarium. Their meals are a combination of meat and plant life, giving the fish a balance of nutrients needed for proper growth.

Keeping up with the fish is no easy task. For starters, the tank is cleaned twice a week by a diver in a wetsuit who uses brushes and high pressure water sprayers to clean the acrylic and the coral. The strore has designated a room for filtration purposes where the water is run through both a mechanical and biological system. Once the water has been oxygenated, it is processed through a protein skimmer, and then filtered back into the tank.

“The aquarium is a big attraction especially for the children. Not only is it exciting to see all the fish, it is also very educational as we provide a brief description of the fish in the tank” – Paul Chiappetta, Sales Associate.

Feel free to stop by and visit our underwater friends the next time you’re in the area. We’d love to see you! For more information about the Abt aquarium, click here. For more information regarding Abt attractions, click here. – Maral A.
