Frigidaire and Electrolux Recall

Frigidaire and Electrolux have released news of a product recall that includes Frigidaire and Electrolux ICON smoothtop electric cooktops purchased between Janurary 2005 through August 2010.  As the recall report states, liquid has been known to pool under the knobs on the front of the unit, which can lead to being a fire hazard.

Above is an example of the location of where liquids can pool.

If you believe you have a unit that falls under the recall, please visit Frigidaire’s recall page and fill in the required information. The model and serial numbers for the slide-in ranges can be found inside the oven door on the left side of the unit or on the underside surface on cooktop models.

If you own one of these recalled items, stop using it and unplug the recalled ranges or power off cooktops at the circuit breaker. Garmin Recalls Select Nuvi GPS Devices

Today, Garmin issued a recall for select Garmin Nuvi devices.  This recall only affects the Nuvi 200W, 250W, 260W and 7xx (where xx is a two-digit number) models.  The battery in the GPS device has the possibility of overheating, which may lead to a fire hazard.  You can go to this website to see if your unit is recalled by entering its serial number.  For more information, please contact our Mobile Department.

GE has issued a recall for some of their FRONT LOADING WASHERS.

GE Recalls Front Load Washers Due to Fire and Shock Hazards

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: GE Front-Load Washing Machines

Units: About 181,000

Manufacturer: GE Appliances & Lighting, of Louisville, Ky.

Hazard: A wire can break in the machine and make contact with a metal part on the washtub while the machine is operating, posing fire and shock hazards to consumers.
Incidents/Injuries: GE is aware of seven incidents in which flames escaped the units and caused minor smoke damage. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall involves GE front-load washing machines without auxiliary water heating. Model and serial numbers are listed in the chart below. Recalled washing machines were manufactured between December 2006 and February 2010. The model and serial numbers are located on the bottom right side and on the bottom door frame of the washers.
