The CES 2012 Attendance Numbers Are In!

This year’s 2012 International CES was the largest in the event’s 44-year history, with a record numbers of attendees, exhibitors and show floor space, according to its owner and producer, the Consumer Electronics Association.

Initially the figures are projected at 153,000, including more than 34,000 international visitors, according to CEA, which conducts an independent audit of attendance at the International CES.

CEA estimated that more than 20,000 new products were launched at the 2012 CES, which also featured top executives participating in keynote sessions, including those from Mercedes, Wal-Mart, Intel, Ford, Verizon, Ford, eBay, GE, Google and Facebook.

CES 2012: Samsung Displays 40 Inch Microsoft Surface

Like a tablet on steroids, Samsung showcased their 40-inch touch-controlled Microsoft table.  Called the SUR40, it is a 1080p 40-inch LCD that runs the latest Microsoft Surface software.  Priced at over $8k, this may be a bit out of reach for the average consumer, but Samsung is banking on businesses and other professional fields to take advantage of their super-sized tablet for lobby’s warehouses and meeting rooms.

CES 2012: MartinLogan Excells With New Sound Equipment

MartinLogan’s dedicated in-house design and engineering team carefully crafted the Motion Series to create an extremely affordable and compact product line with incredible design and clarity.

At CES 2012, MartinLogan showcased The Motion 20 and Motion 40.  They are bi-wire capable and feature premium five-way binding posts. A perforated metal grille adds to the speaker’s powerful elegance while  5.5-inch and 6.5-inch black aluminum cone woofers (on the 20 and 40 respectively) paired with a rear firing bass port adds extra punch in the lower frequencies.

 

Abt @ CES 2012: High’s and Lows

CES 2012 is wrapping up and there were sure a lot of interesting new items showcased.  For one thing, futuristic cars are definitely on the minds of manufacturers and consumers alike.  Not only does the impending crop of vehicles specialize in gadgets to keep the driver and pedestrian safer, but also to keep them entertained.

The other popular trend was the continuation of 3D and touch screen TVs.  From glasses-less TVs to computer screens, manufacturers are interested in showing and perfecting visuals that come straight at you and can be manipulated by your own hands, face and voice.  Here’s to the next CES being just as successful and adventurous as this one!

p.s.  I’m not going to say there were a whole lot of “lows” at CES 2012, but the video below assaults every one of my senses and an almost horrific way.

Abt @ CES 2012: ASUS Zenbook, Padphone and Desktop Computer

ASUS brought new additions to their computer line at CES.  Beginning with the ASUS Padfone,  this is a device which takes both a smartphone and adds a pocket inside a tablet to use both whenever you need whichever size.

In addition they showcased their new ASUS Zenbook now in hot pink and champagne!

Asus also presented their incredibly powerful Tytan Desktop computer.  The Tytan is a 2nd-gen Core i5 or i7 processor on Intel’s Z68, up to 32GB RAM, GeForce GTX 560 Ti or GTX 590 graphics card, DVD writer or Blu-ray combo drive and ASUS Xonar audio. It provides four USB 3.0 ports total as well as DVI and HDMI outputs and a 16-in-1 card reader.

Another familiar face at CES is LG, who are showing off smart tech – a clothes manager that can steam from the inside and pull the wrinkles out of your clothes, cloud gaming technology, and smart TV’s that will allow you to pretty much be hands-on with every video and photo you own.

The LG Concept Clothes Manager:  Includes a funky control panel on the front that will disappear when not in use.

When it comes to creating concept vehicles can be downright amazing.  When it comes to concept vehicles at CES, you not only get vehicles straight out of science fiction, but you also get them decked out with the newest technology out there.

Abt @ CES 2012: Mercedes F125!; The Car of the Future?

According to Mercedes, in 15 years we’ll have large luxury vehicles with zero emissions and a range of more than 500 miles.  At least, that’s the idea behind the recently unveiled F 125! research vehicle, which is Mercedes’ vision of the future for the year 2025.   It’s an all wheel drive, hydrogen-powered plug-in with four electric motors at each wheel. According to Mercedes, the luxury sedan utilizes a new type of hydrogen storage technology.

Abt @ CES 2012: TCL Gets “Hands On” With New Flat-Screen TVs

Manufacturer TCL showed off their new line of touch sensitive flat-screen TVs.  The video below shows a spokeswoman gesturing to play “Angry Birds” right off the TV screen.


 

Abt @ CES 2012: Lenovo’s Computers and Tablets

Lenovo brought some really interesting additions to their CES showcase.  The first was the Lenovo Yoga Laptop that can flip over into a tablet.


Next is the Lenovo Desktop.  This one is the ultimate space saver as it can be bent over to rest parallel with the keyboard, all while remaining as a touchscreen.

Lenovo is adding to their existing line of IdeaPads.  These particular models are offered in a variety of colors.
