The notoriously popular shopping day, Black Friday, is just around the corner.  If you plan on doing as much holiday shopping as humanly possible that day, good luck!  At Abt, we don’t like to have door-buster deals, and gimmicky promotions, we just want to have good prices year round, every day of the year.

Thanksgiving & Black Friday Mobile Traffic Up 60% From 2010

Purchasing goods on cellular phones is a growing medium for ecommerce, with users sourcing deals from their phones and tablets before visiting physical stores.  A new study by Usablenet tracked various retail websites and tracked 18 million page views and 1 million mobile users over Thanksgiving and Black Friday. It saw mobile traffic to its clients was up 60% from the same period last year, with Thanksgiving sending more traffic than the following day. Usablenet also found that iOS devices accounted for 42% of the traffic, trumping Android, and trouncing the tiny traffic from Windows and Nokia devices.

Black Friday Shopping Madness Around the Corner!

In less than a week, consumers will hit the stores in a wild frenzy to shop for great deals.  Some are even camping outside stores now, waiting for a full week to get the best prices of the year.  A survey, conducted by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and BIGresearch, shows that 74 million people definitely plan to hit the stores Thanksgiving weekend, while another 77 million said they will do so if the bargains are worth braving the cold and the crowds.

Here at Abt, no need to wait outside, or leave your Thanksgiving dinner early.  We plan on having a great sale all day!

Abt Shipping Department Works Overtime

Lots can be said about Santa during the holiday season, but we here at Abt have our own holiday delivery people: our shipping department.  For the Black Friday weekend everyone in the department had a little extra coffee and little less sleep to get each and every order picked, wrapped up, and shipped out.  Packages from across the country needed to make their way to their respective owners and the department pushed their efforts to the limit.  Even with some difficulties.

“Well, where do I begin?” chuckled Eric R. from Abt’s shipping department when asked if they ran into any problems.   “There was about a 60% increase in sales from last year and we were doing everything we could to get those packages out and delivered in time”.  Everything, including working with our own IT Department to learn from any of this year’s difficulties to tweak our shipping system and adapt to any future problems or delays.

At Abt, we pride ourselves on having all our workers work solely in our building.  We don’t outsource and that’s because good customer service and satisfaction comes from hard work you can see and trust. Special thanks to all those in the department, who went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our customers get their holiday gifts.

Holiday Weekend Sale

Our Thanksgiving Sale is still in effect online until Monday, 11/29/10 at 11:59 pm (CST).  You can find great deals at Abt without having to worry about shuffling around department stores, waiting in long lines and deal with massive crowds. So, sit back, relax and start shopping!

For those in the Chicagoland area, great deals are even in our store.  We’ll be open this weekend till 9pm today and this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Santa Claus will be stopping by to take pictures with families from 12pm-4pm.  Come on in to get great deals and a free picture with Old Saint Nick!

Is Cyber Monday the New Black Friday?

Black Friday, a flood of people entered the Abt showroom for our first early opening in history. Will Cyber Monday realize the same flurry of people on Abt.com and in our phone sales department?

Traditionally, Black Friday has been the busiest shopping day of the year. In recent years, Cyber Monday has given Black Friday a run for its money. What will this year bring? Will Cyber Monday outshine Black Friday???

What Will You Buy on Black Friday?

Consumer Reports did a poll about the most wanted products this Black Friday. The poll showed that 70 percent of the 1,001 adults, who participated, planned to purchase consumer electronics, and 71 percent plans to buy clothing.

Almost surprising, more than half of the Black Friday shoppers polled will be purchasing an electronic for themselves. Not as surprising, approximately three-quarters of the same shoppers polled will be purchasing an electronic for someone else.

Of the electronics on shoppers lists, 22 percent intend to purchase an mp3 player or an iPod, 46 will buy a specific video game or accessory, 21 percent will get a video game console, 20 percent are looking for a laptop or netbook, and 13 percent are on the hunt for a TV.

Thinking of all of the crowded retail outlets, 53 percent of the polled consumers expected on-line retailers would have competitive bargains just like the crowded malls; while a shocking 28 percent of the 1,001 polled shoppers plan to physically visit a store. Thus proving, on-line shopping is quickly becoming a preferred method for shopping.

More than one out of every five adults plans to purchase a TV either Black Friday, during or after the holiday season. Out of those shoppers, over half are looking for a TV 40” or larger. HD or a better picture, size, specific programming needs, adding additional TVs to the household, and desire for a flat-panel TV are the main reasons for TV purchases this season.
