Steve Jobs: 1955-2011

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Steven P. Jobs, co-founder of Apple, passed away yesterday, October 5th, 2011.  Considered to many to be a true visionary, he redesigned the way we look at computers, portable music devices, cellular phones and even technology as a whole.  There’s always something better to make, always something to improve on, and always something to spark your imagination.

Steve Jobs leaves behind a legacy that the world has been changed by and will never forget.

“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”– Steven P. Jobs

Steve Jobs Retires from Apple

Friday, August 26th, 2011

Steve Jobs officially announced his retirement from his world renowned company Apple this week.  What does this mean for Apple?  Not much exactly.  It will still continue to be a Steve Jobs company.  Steve Jobs has been involved since its inception, but has taken numerous hiatuses the last several years due to illness.  In dealing with his absence, Apple worked on training a replacement who could eventually fill his place when Apple’s creator steps down.

This comes a little over a month before the big launch of the iPhone 5.  He will continue to be involved with the company but is relinquishing his CEO title to Tim Cook who was hired by Apple in 1998.  Jobs will continue to be involved in the company and will remain chairman of the board.  Watch Apple continue to evolve as an innovative company with the guidance of new individuals continuing Apple’s inexhaustible success.

What Will the iPhone 5 Look Like?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

When the huge iPhone 5 announcement is made, you can be sure you will find out what it looks like and what all the features are moments after they are announced by Apple…but it doesn’t hurt to speculate.  Online website, PCMag.com goes over several different ideas on what the phone may look like by playing with Adobe Photoshop.  Some ideas are, edge-to-edge screen, no home button, thinner, slide-out keyboard.  Options are endless when the imagination gets a hold of the design, but only Apple knows for sure.  Look for the release around the first week or so in September.  Until then, what do you think it will look like?

Apple Wants High-Res for iPad 3

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

For Apple, it’s never too soon to start working on the next generation of a product they JUST released.  According to sources, Apple is testing a new, high-resolution screen for their third generation iPad. According to allthingsd.com an industry representative mentioned, “Apple’s upcoming iPad 3 will feature an improved display to support quad extended graphics (QXGA), a display resolution of 2048×1536 pixels with a 4:3 aspect ratio to provide full high definition (HD) viewing experience.”

Don’t go running  to pre-order iPad 3 just yet.  Absolutely no news on a release date has even been mentioned, but rather, Apple is already thinking on how to make their next hand held tablets top of the line.

10 Apps to Enhance Your iPad 2

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

If you are one of the lucky ones to have gotten the new and elusive iPad 2, PCMag.com released an article showing the top 10 apps to show off the iPad’s hardware.  In it are games, programs that put the new camera, enhanced gyroscope and processor to the test.

A few interesting apps mentioned was GarageBand and iMovie.

GarageBand simulates playing instruments on the iPad’s screen. For guitar, you tap on the display to play individual notes, strum chords, or bend notes; you can even touch the strings in two places at the same time to palm mute. There’s also an on-screen piano and drum kit, which offer similar features and controls.

iMovie, which was originally created on  Apple’s own desktop video-editing application, iMovie  works with the new iPad. The easy-to-use app makes good use of the tablet’s touch-screen interface, and lets you clip, add photos, music, themes, and more to the video you capture right on the iPad 2.

Visit our iPad section for more information.
