One of the most buzzed-about potential gadgets seems to be the Smart Watch. We’ve seen a few models hit the market, though they’ve all been kind of limited in scope. Most of them simply act as a second screen for a mobile device. And they all look very smartphone-ish. Boring glass screens that turn black when not in use, and clunky rectangular designs.
Well, a newcomer to the smartphone world wants to change how the world thinks of these techno-timekeepers. (more…)

The new XBOX One is poised to take the gaming world by storm!
Microsoft has just announced the newest generation of the XBOX gaming console titled, the XBOX One. First, let’s talk about the guts of the machine. It will have the following goodies:
8 Core CPU
8 GB System Memory
500 GB HDD
Blu-ray Drive (finally!)
802.11n Wireless with Wi-Fi Direct
The look and design of the system itself is that of an all black feature and features a two-tone finish with both glossy and matte. The Blu-ray disc and gaming drive will be slot-loading and changing between your console and live TV will be seamless. There will also be voice-activate features. Simply saying “XBOX On”, will turn your console on and “XBOX, watch TV”, will turn on your TV.
The emphasis is not only on a powerful gaming performance, but an all-inclusive spectrum to your game playing habits. For instance, Microsoft states, “Achievements ill become dynamic and changing. They tell your personal story of how you play, not what you’ve done.”
There is some grumbling among the gaming communities over the following features: it isn’t backwards compatible, and the possibility that used games will no longer work. Microsoft hasn’t yet fully explained their “used game” policy, but we are sure it will get fleshed out by release date which will be Q$ just in time for the holidays.

Ever wish you could have your important files escorted across the internet by a rough-and-tumble English rogue in a high-performance European sedan, ensuring they get to a safe, secure destination? If you’re like me, you sure have. Data storage on “The Cloud” continues to grow in popularity, but many people are nervous about reliability and privacy of cloud-based storage, not to mention recurring storage fees. And that’s where the Connected Data Transporter Private Cloud comes in, giving you the convenience of cloud storage services, without the monthly fees, and with the peace-of-mind of having total control over the location of your data.
Getting started with the Transporter drive is a pretty simple process. First, buy the unit with the amount of storage you need: 1TB (terabyte), 2TB, or a bare unit, to which you add a hard drive of your choice. Then connect it to your home network, either wirelessly or with a wired connection. Once hooked up to your network, simply create a Transporter account, and you’re ready to easily and safely sync files and share them with anyone you want, from anywhere you have access to the internet. Imagine an active kitchen in a modern, high-rise condo with a stunning view. Or consider an open, gourmet kitchen with an island cooktop at the heart of the living and entertaining area. In each case, the goal is to preserve open, clean sight lines, yet keep the home free from cooking vapors.
Traditional ventilation options, such as overhead hoods, may be undesirable obstructions in such luxurious settings — or they simply may not be feasible. But Jenn-Air, first in kitchen ventilation and technological innovation for more than 50 years, has introduced a sophisticated engineering solution to this challenge: the world’s only Duct-Free Downdraft cooktop.
The Sonos Playbar integrates Sonos Play technology into a home theater soundbar
The Sonos Playbar mounts neatly on the wall, above or below your flat panel TV. Or simply place it on the stand below.
About ten years ago, Sonos set out to transform the way people listen to music in the digital era by removing one of the obstacles to getting music to multiple locations around the house: the wires. With a Sonos system, you could store your digital music files in one location, and listen to them anywhere else in the home with a wireless internet signal. Sonos Play devices can stream music from your smartphone or Wi-Fi enable computer; the Sonos Connect extended streaming abilities to a standard stereo receiver. With the introduction of the Sonos Playbar, this functionality has been integrated into the soundbar form factor. The result is a multi-function unit whose slim body hides large, immersive sound.

One of the developments from CES 2013 that didn’t get much fanfare was the noticeable increase in product support for the Thunderbolt standard. Because it’s just an interface, it didn’t attract the attention that flashy TVs or flexible smartphones may have. But the growing adoption of the Thunderbolt technology is something that will greatly benefit everyone who consumes large amounts of data.
Thunderbolt is a new computer peripheral connection standard that was created as a collaborative effort between Intel and Apple. It’s a multi-function interface that can transfer data (like the current USB connection) or video (like DVI/VGA ports on your computer monitor). We’re going to skip over most of the technical specifics of the technology, and jump right into the two areas we think Thunderbolt will benefit you most: speed of data transfer and ease of connecting peripherals.
Thunderbolt and lightning, very very frightening (speeds)
A Thunderbolt connection increases transfers speeds of data by about 2000% over the standard USB 2.0 connection on your typical home computer. Yes, 20 times the speed. What that means for you is greatly reduced wait times when, say, moving photos from your memory card to your computer. The Thunderbolt connection will be able to transfer a 4GB card filled with photos in a matter of seconds. No more waiting around for 15 or 20 minutes while an entire vacation-worth of photos slowly moves onto your hard drive. (more…)
