It’s no surprise we like to get really into our holidays here, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. That explains the lineup of brightly-decorated, personalized bags lining the wall behind customer service department today. Over the last week, customer service reps spent their downtime decorating the Valentine’s Day goodie bags for each of the 62 (yep, sixty-two!) members of their department. After a hectic Customer Appreciation Sale weekend, the Valentines will be a welcome treat for our hard-working CS reps.

New Year’s Eve is just a few days away, which brings to an end one of the most fun-filled, eventful years in Abt’s history. As we close out 2016, here’s a look back at some of the notable happenings at Abt, in no particular order:
The Inspiration Studio is the result of Bob Abt’s vision for the ultimate kitchen showroom imaginable. As John Hammond from Jurassic Park might say, “We spared no expense.” Filled with the finest appliances in the industry, in kitchen vignettes created by renowned kitchen designer Mick DeGiulio, the Inspiration Studio is meant to do just what its name says. Working appliances and a welcoming environment are here to inspire customers to discover the design or products that will become their dream kitchen. (more…)

If you’ve ever been to our Glenview showroom, you know that things are always changing. We’re always trying to find ways to make the shopping experience easier, more efficient, or more fun whether by adding product-focused boutiques like the Gourmet Shop or one-of-a-kind showrooms like the new Inspiration Studio. Our latest improvement is the new Microsoft gaming room, a space dedicated to Xbox and other Windows-based gaming products.
The problematic phablet has officially been axed
After a tumultuous few months that included countless news stories, multiple product advisories and an offer to replace units they suspected of being problematic, Samsung has officially discontinued the beleaguered Galaxy Note 7 over concerns about the devices overheating and exploding. No new Note 7s will be produced, and all existing units will be recalled. (more…)

WGN-TV Chicago reporter Marcus Leshock, who covers Chicago’s most interesting cultural and social offerings, swung by Abt a few days ago to give viewers a glimpse of some epic Father’s Day gifts. While we mentioned yesterday that plenty of Dads would be happy to just have a fun Father’s Day with their loved ones in lieu of a gift, we’re also pretty sure that most Dads wouldn’t refuse an 85″ Samsung 4K TV as a gift. Check out the video below to see what other hot items Mr. Leshock scoped out while wandering our showroom, and if you’re in our area, feel free stop by and see them for yourself.
Tomorrow, August 10th 2012, Abt will be premiering Samsung’s brand new 75″ LED 9000 Series Smart TV from 6 pm – 8 pm on our showroom floor (1200 N Milwaukee Ave, Glenview, IL, 60025). Originally debuted alongside Space Shuttle Enterprise, this Samsung flat screen TV is longer, corner-to-corner, than any one of the USA Olympic ‘Fab 5’ Gymnasts, and is only as thick as the gold medals that they won.
It’s not just a pretty face either, this baby’s got brains to match. Besides being 3D-ready, the 9000 Series has a built-in web camera that retracts when not in use, comes with four pairs of 3D glasses, and has all the Smart features including Smart Interaction for enabling gesture and voice controls. TV viewers can use Smart Content for sharing media across a variety of devices, enjoy a new Angry Birds app which let’s users control the game entirely with gesture controls, and more.
Again, the event begins at 6PM CST and will last until 8PM CST in the Atrium at Abt Electronics in Glenview. If you’re interested in attending you must RSVP . All attendees will also be eligible to enter to win a 46″ Samsung LED 8000 Series Smart TV and there will be a Samsung technical concierge on-hand to answer questions and offer demonstrations of the LED 9000.
Come see it for yourself!
While other Electronics Retailers Scramble to Adapt to a Changing Market, Abt flexes, molds, and pushes onward. There isn’t some secret recipe for success kept under lock and key and guarded by three mid-evil Knights and an “Abt Dragon”, deep below our recycling center…or is there? Abt’s focus on providing our customers with a uniquely enjoyable in-store experience and customer service so outstanding you don’t even recognize it, is the reason we continue to go head-to-head with the “big boys,” and win.
