CES 2015: Neoh Headphones, 3D Sound Labs’ Portable, Virtual Home Theater
The Neoh Lets You Bring Home Theater Sound Everywhere You Go.
We’re always excited to see what the home theater and portable electronics industries have in store at CES. The Neoh Headphones from 3D Sound Labs are an intriguing product that will appeal to fans of both industries. Combining new hardware with a proprietary app, the Neoh headphones from 3D Sound Labs put a virtual multi-speaker setup in a portable package. While virtual 3D sound imaging has been around for some time now, the Neoh adds an extra element to what has, up until this point, always been created solely by audio-processing software. Motion sensors inside the Neoh headphones track the head movements of the wearer and adjust the soundstage to reflect that movement. Move your head to the right, and the sound would adjust just as if you turned your head to face a sound in the real world.
The app works with your own video files, and can process the audio information in real-time for an immersive, lag-free viewing experience. Many of today’s tablets can display vivid, 1080p (or better) video; combined with a sophisticated virtual surround setup like in the Neoh headphones, watching movies on the go can be genuinely enjoyable. And combining the Neoh with a virtual reality headset like the Oculus Rift will open up portable entertainment options that we can’t wait to try.
