When it comes to pricing, the 13-inch model will cost $1,199 with a 2.3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 320GB hard drive, or $1,499 for a 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5 and 500GB hard drive.

The 15-inch model comes with a 2.0 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6490M and 500GB hard drive for $1,799.  Another 15-inch model comes with 2.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon HD 6750M and 750GB hard drive for $2,199.

One Customer's Excellent Experience With Abt

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Recently we were written about in a Blog by a writer named Kingsley Tang.  He operates a blog entitled, “Kingsley Tang & The Purple Reaction”.  Writing about a positive experience he had when purchasing electronics, brings a smile to all of us here at Abt.  He writes,

“Abt Electronics is huge but it doesn’t feel like any other electronics store…If you live within two hours driving distance of Abt Electronics, it is worth the drive to go to this store. Abt Electronics has created a consumer experience that cannot ever be replicated online and while other brick and motor stores are losing out to online retailers stores like Abt never will.”

Thank you for the kind words.  Our goal is complete satisfaction and it’s great to always hear good news from our customers.  His entire blog can be at “Abt Electronics: How cookies and a fish tank create a consumer paradise“.

An Android Phone at Breakneck Speed

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Motorola’s Atrix, coming out in March will be hitting the market as the fastest working Android phone on the market.  Originally unveiled at CES 2011, the phone will have unbelievable speed as well as unique features like a fingerprint scanner to unlock your phone.  On top of that, the Atrix will also double as a laptop.  Not in size, but rather in capabilities.

It can become your personal computer. Take it to work, pair it with a special Motorola dock and it acts just like a laptop.  Once connected to the dock, a mobile view of your phone launches on your laptop screen. You can make a call right off your phone directly from the desktop.  It dials out automatically using the speaker from the phone.

For more information check out FoxNew’s article on the Motorola Atrix.

Genius Watson Leads Robo Charge

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

I’m watching you…

In case you haven’t heard it yet, robots will soon take over the world.  Well, not yet that is.  Recently the IBM created super computer, Watson, trumped two other contestants Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter during a game of Jeopardy on TV.  In a full-fledged Jeopardy game, each contestant including the super computer, followed the exact Jeopardy rules: choose a category, buzz in when you know it and answer in the form of a question.  While Jennings and Rutter did find themselves quicker than the computer several times, overall Watson demolished its human counterparts in speed and knowledge.

Jenning’s last attempt at keeping his human head above the proverbial water was never more evident than during the Final Jeopardy Round.  His final answer was correct, however his wager was nowhere near what Watson’s total amount was.  After showing the world his correct answer, Jennings wrote  underneath it, “I for one welcome our computer overlords”.  What a relief.  So, that’s it Jennings, you can be our ambassador when the time of robo ruling comes.  Hopefully the robots are not  like Yul Brynner from the 1973 movie, “Westworld“.  If so, I’m moving to the moon…

Canada Brings the Touchscreen to A New Level

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Starbucks in Canada brings “instant tea” to a whole new meaning.  Numerous locations in Canada are trying out the first-ever “touch order screen” which allows sidewalk passers-by to order different flavors of Tazo tea right off the menu on the window.  I could only imagine how long it will take for this to migrate to America and have it show up on the windows of fast food restaurants.

More information on the new touch-windows can be read on Endgadget’s website.
