Friday, January 29th, 2010

Abt is constantly looking for products that are environmentally friendly. The Soda Stream is an at home soda maker. It doesn’t use disposable cans or bottles, so there is no waste with each drink you make.

Saturday, January 30 from 11am-5pm, Abt will be demonstrating Soda Stream in the Abt atrium. Come by to see how to use the Soda Stream and taste some soda. I’m going to be there to taste one of the 25 flavors, will you?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Abt Electronics’ own Josh Davis spoke with NBC 5’s Marion Brooks Sunday morning on The Talk. The topic on the minds of so many shoppers? Cash for Appliances, the Government subsidized program for consumers to cut their energy bills and help save the environment at the same time.

The information we have so far…
-Starting at the end of January, there will be a 25% rebate on all Energy Star qualifying water heaters.

Samsung TV Channel?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Managing settings on a new TV can be daunting. Reading the manual that came with the TV is even worse. Samsung understands consumer’s frustrations. They recently launched a streaming TV “channel” to assist users with all of the technical questions associated with their new TV and other Samsung products.

Samsung is looking to lead the consumer electronics industry in hosting a live stream video channel, and we are excited about adding this to the current portfolio of product support services we already offer to our customers,” the company said in a statement on the program.

The first of the streaming broadcasts will feature topics from digital TVs to Samsung’s line of mobile phones. Along with the streaming video, a live chat will give users the opportunity to ask questions and get answers at the end of the broadcast.

Ultimately, the goal of the Samsung Product Support TV (SPSTV) “channel” is to fully educate customers on the capabilities of their Samsung products and new purchases. Will you use the SPSTV channel for assistance?

Web Sales Favorite Products

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

I thought I would take a poll of the internet sales team, working this morning, to find out what their favorite Abt.com product is right now. Everyone had very different responses. If you want to put a face with a name, check out the web sales page on Abt.com.

Starting with Conrad S., his favorite item is a “GE Profile (Champagne) High-Efficiency Washer – WPGT9150HMG top loading washing machine with the capacity and energy efficiency of a front load at a lesser price. I like it so much I actually do laundry to help my wife out. It works great.”

Steve P. loves the selection of Oakley Sunglasses. “They are great in the bright sun when I play golf.”

Kevin R. loves his Python Remote Car Starter from Viper. “It definitely helps during those cold nights where I’m the last to leave in the department. Plus, it makes me feel ‘Willis Tower’.”

Brian E. likes the Playstation 3 because he can watch his extensive collection of blu-rays and play video games too.

Megan M. loves the Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 600 Series Speakers. She enjoys the superb audio quality at such a reasonable price.

Victor R.’s favorite product is the Pioneer Flagship In-Dash A/V Receiver with DVD playback. It interfaces with an iPod and has a navigation unit all-in-one. He likes it because it does so much and doesn’t clutter up his car.

Tim S. uses Bang and Olufsen A8 series headphones. “These are the best sounding in ear headphones that actually stay in my ears when I’m doing things that are active (skiing, sledding, chasing my dog around, etc.).”

Isaac B. doesn’t like watching commercials when he’s finished with a long day at work. The Hi-Def Tivo eliminates commercials and he can watch his favorite TV Shows, like True Blood and The Office, after work.

Mark S. finishes the day with the Human Touch Compact Acuvibe Handheld Massager. He comes home, eats a late dinner and massages the day away.

Carl C. won’t make coffee unless he gets filtered water from his fridge. The Whirlpool filter makes his coffee taste great.

Rafael P. listens to his XM Satellite Radio on the way to work everyday. “It’s commercial free and has a huge variety of music options.”

Blake B. relaxes listening to his Boston Acoustics Duo-i Plus Black iPod Speaker System. “The quality and value are amazing for such a low price.”

Carl P. and David S. make dinner with their Weber Genesis Grills. “It’s a great way to cook steaks in the summer or winter.”

Free Apple iPhone Applications

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I’ve had my iPhone for about a month now, and I really love it. I am pretty convinced that it can do anything I want it to do. I have actually found that I’ve used my laptop less because the iPhone is so handy.

Just about everyone at this point—iPhone user or not—has heard the slogan, “There’s an App for That.” It’s so true. There is an app for everything.

I found a really cool website at http://freeappaday.com/. The website is giving away a free iPhone app each day for a month. You may like them all or may only like a few… Either way, check it out and see if any of the free apps are appealing to you. There is a selector that will alert you if there is an app of the day that will interest you.

Let me know what you think!

For any iPhone accessories, stop in or check out www.Abt.com.

Introducing "The Ace" From The Aliph Jawbone ICON Collection

Monday, January 18th, 2010

We are all aware of the dangers of talking on a cell phone and driving; and in many places it’s considered so dangerous, it’s illegal. There are a myriad of headset options on the market to combat the dangers of holding a cell phone while driving. One of the best on the market is the Jawbone Bluetooth by Aliph. They just introduced their latest line of headsets – The Icon.

One of the newest Jawbones from the Icon collection, the Ace, will be available in a few weeks. It has some cool features like NoiseAssassin Voice Activity Sensor. It detects a voice and turns on and off, eliminating the outside noise. The Ace is light and stays on with or without the loop that fits around your ear. One of the features I like the most is the ability of the headset to toggle between calls and answer call waiting.

For more information on the Jawbone Prime or Jawbone Ace, contact an Abt sales specialist. Or you can read Engadget’s review on the the new Icon series. Abt currently sells the Jawbone Prime and Brian R., the buyer for cell phone accessories, let me know that we will be getting the Jawbone Ace very soon!

How Fast Can You Text?

Friday, January 15th, 2010

The LG MOBILE WORLDCUP, held yesterday in New York at Gotham Hall, saw a new World record set. “LG wants to highlight how modern mobile phones are helping enrich people’s lives and LG MOBILE WORLDCUP allows us to do that and have fun at the same time,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Today, mobile phones are much more than just communication tools. Customers today are buying mobile phones not just to communicate but also to be entertained.”

13 countries sent teams to the World Championship of Texing. Participating countries include USA, Canada, Indonesia, Portugal, Brazil, Russia, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Korea, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. The competition requires contestants to type phrases in their native language on their LG handsets. Texts must be correct, with no typos or abbreviations. The winners are determined on time and accuracy.

The grand prize went to South Korea’s team, the US took second, and the new World Record holder is from Portugal; Pedro Matias typed 264 characters in just 1 minute 59 seconds.

I tried to see how many characters I can type in 1 minute 59 seconds. Unfortunately I was no where close to Pedro (I typed 151 characters); so I guess I will need to practice!

Try the same test and let us know how many characters you can time in less than 2 minutes. Maybe you can represent your country in the next World Championship of Texting!

Text this paragraph and see if you can do it too! Good luck all! I want to win the LG MOBILE WORLD CUP! Contestants in the LG MOBILE WORLD CUP contest should be careful they don’t get carpal tunnel syndrome from texting too much! Could you text two-hundred and sixty-four characters in one minute and fifty-nine seconds?
